The Coop Fine Food Blackcurrant Jam is gorgeous!!! It is made in GB and is full of fruit.

I was raised on Mrs Balls Chilli and Mrs Balls Mango chutneys. They're South African and awesome.

Seville oranges are really cheap, the one I bought for my last batch of marmalade were only CHF12. The amount I got made about 15 jars IIRC.

Unfortunately they don't seem to keep them in the shop, which is a shame as there's one right outside my door, unless it's just my particular Migros that doesn't stock these goodies.

I think there's a small coop up the road, might go try my luck up there.

Now if only someone sold proper growlers (pork pies) to eat with the 5 cans of mushy peas I bought, and to test the chutneys.

Dunno. I only shop at a one M Migros and leshop.ch or a giant Coop. I've never been to a MMM Migros. I find that all the supermarkets here are hit and miss. Coop has Heinz beans on 50% of the time I visit.

Spacey sells excellent pies! I recommend the chicken balti one.

I can't remember what I've had before, right now the one in the 'fridge is from Aldi I think. I have tried them from Coop and Migros before though and they're a bit bitter for on toast for me. They ARE good as a flavoring for making a sweet n sour type dressing or if I'm making "Asian style" orange chicken.

Pies? I made one myself (using Coop pastry and the leftovers of a pan of scouse and Sundays leftover beef in stout).

did you use a strong, wholemeal bread and thickly spread butter?

I've tried these (Dietlikon big Coop).

Plenty of butter (+ kam/marmite etc) and bingo...

Please .. where is the volta centre in Basel? I need to go shopping ...

Most of that list are things I've bought in larger Coops since years ago. Except Batchelor's peas and the Mrs. Ball's chutney-they used to have Sharwood's Mango. Thay've just grouped them together!

This is at the St. Johann Banhoff, right on the 1 tram line. (Also "easily" gotten to via the 36, 38, 31 and 50 bus, being just a couple blocks walk down from Kannenfeldplatz)

Co-op Pies:
Co-op now has Beef & Vegetable Pie - saw then today in Wollishofen (Zurich).

SFr 4.90 for a 220g pie. Quite fillling and OK but a bit stodgy pastry, but that may be because it didn't make it home - I had it cold. (Says can be eaten hot or cold).
THey also had a Chicken Tandoori version:

Coop in Sihl City (Zürich) now has selection of English food. The end of one of the aisles. Never before have I seen such a barren space in Coop. Bar a few mushy peas on the bottom shelf, some oxo cubes and a couple of containers of Bisto, they were completely sold out. Here's hoping for a bit of expansion.

I'm hoping for lucozade, but I know that's a long shot.
