| | Schweppes...
We wanted to make Gin/Tonic this weekend but was surprised... no tonic water in the shops. Finally managed to buy some 0.5 l at Coop, but culd not found any big bottle...
Any tips where to look?
Merci...

I've never seen big bottles of Schweppes tonic here - only the 0.5l plastic and the smaller glass ones -both from Co-op.
Avoid the Migros tonic as an alternative - it's revolting.

Kind of obvious, but anyway: Look at a drinks shop, for example a branch of "Rio Getränke"... they have one liter pet bottles. I do not know the Western Swiss equivalent... http://www.rio-getraenke.ch/sortiment.php?c=1&s=9 | The following 2 users would like to thank Treverus for this useful post: | |

Large bottles in Denner, I have bought several to keep us going as I struggled to find them too. Now on the look out for soda water!
My brother in law is coming soon, and when he requests a whisky and soda, I don't think a sparkling mineral water will be the same.

FeverTree shoul be available here: http://www.brunnergetraenke.ch/
Call them and ask if they have soda. I tried to find bottled soda water but that seems to be impossible.

My primary choice is Kaufland in DE but that involves jaunt across the border and few liters of fuel.

Plenty of Schweppes products in Coop. Also as others have said the big bottles of Schweppes tonic are available in Denner. Be warned though that I don't think the Swiss can be big tonic drinkers since the stuff seems to be priced at Johnny 'banker' foreigner prices i.e. the tonic water costs far more than beer.
As far as the light or diet version of the products goes I've never seen them in Switzerland.
The margin on the stuff here is such that several times a year they sell it at about a third off. That is the time to stock up.

I mean, soda water is just water with bubbles, and bubbly "mineral" water is just water with bubbles. I'm not quite sure that I follow what the difference is.

You state in your profile you are local, I wonder if you know about this a tad better than us?
I haven't seen the light versions here so far, by the way. I am happy to make my own pop with sodaclub/stream, saves a lot of cash and muscles. |
