Re: FIFA World Cup 2018 Announcement

From the Guardian feed:

"2012 European Championships in Russia and Poland will now become a dress rehearsal for the 2018 World Cup."

Being a sports reporter is the easiest job around and still the moron can't get it right. Euro 2012 are in Poland/Ukraine.

Ohhhh yeah. Prepare to travel 500-1000km between stadiums, tourists!
Well the one in the USA was one of the best world cups staged, so that is not an issue.

Did Sepp just say Association football was invented in China?

The man is such a dick muncher.
He said it in 2004 as well...
Quote:
"We have to say thanks to the British associations --especially England -- to have organized the game of association football," said FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
"But you cannot deny the history that in China there is a recollection and evidence they played the game a thousand years ago."
FIFA says its historians have proof that the game -- then called cuju or "kickball" -- originated in China some 2,000 years ago. It was even played for emperors.

Qatar is to build 12 stadiums, 9 of which will be taken apart and sent to developing countries after the tournament. That's cool of them.

I'm glad they were reasonable about it and won't hold any matches further east than Yekaterinburg. That way it's at least manageable. Though lucky for you, Yekaterinburg is a stone's throw away from Novosibirsk..... only 1000 miles!

2012 european championships are in Ukraine and Poland. I'm not sure Russia needs to share with anyone.

They will. Match tickets will act as visas, and travel inside Russia will be organized and free for ticket holders.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2018 Announcement

Russia better deal with its racism issue before then. And I am not referring to the knobs in the stands.

If you can't wander the streets back to the hotel late at night tipsy, it's not worth going.

Same applies for Ukraine in 2012, but Euros are mostly a white affair anyways, and most people will head to Poland regardless.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2018 Announcement

I guess FIFA doesn't care whether the fans attend any of the matches in 2018 or 2022, not with all that lovely TV money rolling in.
