Re: RWC 2011 thread

I'm just glad the Kiwis managed to hold on long enough!

They really need to improve their kicking game (one from four?) ... but then, so do the French (one from five).

Such joy, so good, oh soo happy.
And with an opponent fighting so hard to take it, makes the prize so much more special.

Just so happy the boys in black could finally do enough to earn the prize. They've always been capable of it, and its so good to see it finally come for them.

Most one-sided and shameful refferreeing I've ever witnessed in a WC final.
Well done France - in particular for not blaming the ref after the game, if NZ had been reffed in a similar fashion in even the 3N they'd have the pitchforks out.

Really? I think there were a couple of slight interpretation issues with high tackles, one of the collapsing scrum decisions and I also think that deciding to play on when Parra was getting treatment, but not the All Black Cruden in the same position. Complaining that McCaw was offside for the turnover is not a surprise.....Kiwi and Wallaby back rows always push that rule to the fullest extent.

I agree that the All Blacks got the benefit of the doubt in a few cases, but I can't agree with "shameful"

Well plenty of media agree with you there, but I think those were the same media agreeing with the bizarre english commentary we were following.

The French version of 'rolling away from the tackle' was just as laughable as anything NZ did wrong - the whole game they were making funny poses on the ground on the NZ side of the ruck, even after France #10 got a knee from mccaw for sticking his arms, legs and head in the air too long.

My personal version of one-eyedness knows we must have been lucky if we came away with so little to complain about. But us NZers are well and truly warped from going so long as the dominating team between world cups, without lifting the trophy. For france to lose to an island nation with population of 100000 a couple of weeks ago, and then get unlucky with a few scrum calls and playing on with an injured player, is errm, fitting.

therefore

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Hey chaps, just saw this on a news website. Pretty interesting. I wonder if this video was doctored or if it really does imply that the kick missed...

Interested to hear what others think? Till today, I hadn't given it a second thought.

I reckon you may be right, just the way it changes so suddenly as it goes "behind" the posts. Looks a bit photoshop'd.

Looks well fake to me. Keeps repeating the same shot, without showing the square-on definitive view.

In other news, seems Rougerie has been accused of gouging McCaw.

Watch this space...

Yeah, I saw that clip, but always quite easy to say that it was intentional when the clip has been enhanced and put into super slow-mo. Probably the same with Mccaw's knee to Parra's head, also very difficult to see if there was intent.

Probably never know, plus looks like there won't be any disciplinary hearings as the prescribed time to lodge a complaint has already lapsed. Probably better, as this WC has been controversial enough.
