Re: RWC 2011 thread

I agree with the red card. I also thought the commentators were quite biased and kept mentioning that there was no malice. How do they know what's going through his mind? In the end, the red card comes down to malice. My opinion is that the only way you can figure out whether malice was involved is to look at how the tackle was concluded. The tackler went through with the tip. He did not try to: 1) pull out half way (i.e. realised oops this is bit too much) and, 2) he didn't try and set him down properly. Clerc's legs went way past the waistline and if Clerc had not tucked his head in, then he would have most certainly suffered a bad neck and/or head injury.

I understand that the sending off spoiled the game, but as captain he should have known better. Too bad, because the Welsh were playing well in the WC and he seems to have little history of foul play. Put it down to a momentary brain fart. It's a shame.

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Hey folks so tomorrow is another judgment day Wallabies vs All Blacks. After Springboks parted from RWC2011, I am keen to support ABs so that Aussies can meet Welsh runners-up from pool D (who btw lost to SA by 1 point difference) and come with vengeance for what we couldn't have accomplished.
Then the ABs will deal with France in the finals to become the champs. This is just my picture of what's gonna happen but I will hush for now... We have witnessed many surprises and odds are on wild cards.

Yeah...I really do. (I'm a ref ) It was malicious and if Warburton doesn't admit that he knew what he was doing, he's lying. It was ill-disciplined and dangerous. He should know better.
Agree with you completely - if more refs had Rolland's nut substance rugby would be a decent game again - he tackled Ferris in a very similar manner against Ireland and got away with it.
Having said that Wales deserved to win.
Would love to see the thugs pinged out of the game of rugby (I don't believe Warburton is by nature one but it creeps in if not punished suitably).

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Well, I'll be up at the Shamrock (Wollishofen) to cheer on the Wallabies!! Anyone else going to be there?

Whatever the result today, though, I look forward to seeing France crushed ...

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Yeah.. er.. i heard something about a game on today..

Could get interesting, as the players on both teams are probably cousins (cuzzie-bro, eh.. yeah, mate!) ....

Is anyone heading down to Pickwicks in Baden?

Re: RWC 2011 thread

That was certainly a game to make NZers smile

Not sure if the Aussie view can blame the ref for much, there would have certainly been a few tough calls but I don't think it turned the game. Rather, a full on forward effort and total security under the high ball made that a great win.

Australia were certainly threatening but perhaps tired in crucial moments.

So, next Sunday morning in Pickwicks in Luzern I guess?

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Unlucky Wales - hats off to being within 1 point having played 60 min with your captain, a key position (#7) and form player, out.

As for NZ - played a great game. What I really liked was seeing their hooker as well as one or two other fowards spining the ball out from the base of the ruck... now that's quick ball and gives you an extra player in the back line...

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Sadly, the Kiwis played better on the day ... especially in the first 15 minutes! For some reason the Wallabies just weren't playing in that first part of the match, and couldn't get back the points they let go.
Couldn't see any reason to fault the ref - he appeared consistent and aware of most of what was going on.

So, finals: looking for the Wallabies to beat Wales (will their captain be allowed to play?) and the All Blacks to crush the Blues - maybe leave them black and blue?

Re: RWC 2011 thread

I just realized my Swisscom package doesn't have a single channel that will broadcast the final !!!! Is that possible, or just the on-screen guide is wrong ?

Re: RWC 2011 thread

Your on screen guide is wrong. Cablecom has a good guide. I knew it would be on ITV and TF1. SSF, the Swiss sport channel will also be showing it

I have to pick up my family at the München airport at 3PM. I might not make it if I go to Zürich (I live by the eastern border, close to Liechtenstein), otherwise I absolutely would. Anyhow, my on-screen guide now does show the game. Perhaps it wasn't showing more than 24hr, and it was cycling, going back to today's morning's shows.

Arf, too bad for you.
But at least you'll be able to provide a tissus box when you'll watch the game and shed a tear when you'll see us win.

(Please, don't rub it on my face if we lose...)
