Letzigrund Demolition Party

Hello.

Myself and a colleague have been visiting the Letzigrund stadium over the past few months to photograph FC Zurich in action. We are currently writing an article for a football magazine in the UK, called the Green Soccer Journal. Our article is based around the Letzigrund, and we are particularly interested in the 'Demolition Party' from 2006.

Does anyone have any information or own any of the old stadium parts such as seating, grass, athletics track or anything else? We would like to visit you and take photographs of how these items are being used now the stadium has been demolished. How they are being recycled.

If you have any of these items or know anywhere they might be found, please contact Pete w
ith a PM.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Pete and Miles

We apologize for writing in English, please find the approximate German translation below (from Google Translate)

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for that. I was told that by Patrik Leinhart at FCZ also, but I registered and got an email telling me that the account needs to be activated, but it never has been so I cannot post!

Do you have an account?

Cheers, Pete

Hi Pete,

I do not have an account but could try to subscribe.
I just fixed your german text in case you want to advertise
on Swiss sites:

Hallo

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

Thanks so much for your help. On both counts.

If you could try an account that would be amazing, I wonder if they are refusing as I'm not swiss?

Cheers

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

The FCZ recently opened a museum too:
http://www.fcz.ch/profis/museum.htm

I can't imagine you not being able to post on the FCZ Forum, there must be some other problem. But if you are looking for old FCZ stuff from the stadion, try http://www.ronorp.net/zuerich/insera...alist-sucht.50 or talk to the guys from ronorp (newsletter with events for Zurich, mo - fr) directly. In Zurich it's cool to be a FCZ fan, maybe they will help you out and post it in their newsletter. Wish you luck, you can contact them here: zuerich@ronorp.net

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

I tried some Google stuff in german, here are some pictures:
http://www.fczforum.ch/forum/fussbal...13532-s22.html
Or maybe you'll have some success with the hardcore fans from the "Südkurve" http://www.suedkurve.ch/index.php?navid=2

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

Hi Pacino.

Thanks for your help. Good idea about Ron Orp! I have tried a lot of the fan sites but cannot seem to find any contact information on them. Would you mind having a look for me or making a post?

What does the post say that has the demolition images? Anything of use?

Cheers,

Pete

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

The contact on the Südkurve Forum is: igang3@suedkurve.ch. They probably understand English, question is, if they really know something.

The text doesn't say much. Almost all the chairs were taken away from fans, some talking as much as whole rows. There were pizzaboxes filled with lawn pieces, stuff like that, but nothing about the further use!
http://sc.tagesanzeiger.ch/dyn/news/zuerich/657264.html

Try the club directly:
fcz@fcz.ch

And if you went to the FCZ store, why couldn't the guy do anything for you?

Anyway, good luck!

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

I haven't been there, but remember the news on the party... but if you are looking for other fun events for your article:

My personal favourite was a fan "initiative" I found pretty creative: The fans are very annoyed that there are no stands anymore. The seats are expensive and you do not get the same atmosphere... which is already not that great thanks to the shitty accoustics of the Letzigrund. (The downsides of being a multi purpose stadium is that you sit far away from the pitch as there is a running track around it... the open architecture is the second factor)

The fan organizations demanded the reintroduction for standings for a long time and were simply ignored by the city (who owns the stadium). Durin one game in 2010, the fans therefore organized a little surprise: They covered the "Südkurve" for a minute with some banners and managed to unscrew 1800 seats in order to watch the game standing! (This being Switzerland, they came back to screw the seats on the following Tuesday...)

Re: Letzigrund Demolition Party

Thankyou for the considerate information. I read about the seat removal a couple of months ago, so funny. I personally would rather sit for 90 minutes!

The amount of stuff that was removed that day must mean there is a lot of it in the city, peoples gardens etc. We just cannot find it! We only want to take some photographs!

Any other ideas anyone? Is anyone a member of the FCZ fans forum? I registered but my account has not been activated so cannot make a post. Would anyone be able to make a post for me if I supply you with the text?

Cheers

Pete
