The last 3 years I was involved in a landspeedracing project. The target was to be the fastest diesel powered vehicle in the world. Until then JCB hold in that moment the FIA record of 351 mph/561km/h. Our budget was really tight ($500,000 compared JCB spend over $24 milions). Long story short: We did not break the record of the fastest diesel powered vehicle, but we are the fastest diesel powered under 8L engine size (JCB used 2 4.3 Liter engines) with 341.15 mph/545 km/h ... but anyhow, here some impression pictures and vid of the last 3 years on the salt
