They had the lottery last year. They're trying to crack down on scalped tickets as well, so it's probably going to be hard to get a ticket.

Unless you know somebody who works for a commercial partner, National Association, UEFA, or EURO 2008 itself your best chance is by entering as many competitions as possible.

Otherwise, you'll find a handful of tickets available on ebay and probably before each match, usually for high prices.

Re: How to get tickets for Euro 2008.....[asking, not offering]

You can still apply for the tickets through the national associations, but only for the games of the respective association. E.g. tickets for the Swiss games can be applied for through the Swiss Football Association website (as of February 9). Only 20 % of the tickets are reserved for the fans of each of the teams playing.

We also had to enter competitions at cs where my husband works but no chance. Goodluck to you hope you manage to get some tickets and then share the experience with me/us how it was.

It should also be noted that the DFB (German Football Association) had 1.5 million applicants for 14,000 tickets.

The public are now paying the price of hosting the tournament in countries with small stadia.

Even if the stadiums were double the capacity, it wouldn't really help with the ratio of interest to availability that you mentioned. These tournaments are all about TV coverage rights aren't they anyway

It would help a little because there'd be a handful more tickets available. TV Coverage provides the majority of the cash I'd say but ticket sales (inluding the "prawn sandwich brigade") and sponsorship (including ticket access) provide a substantial amount.

Without digging out my old football sticker albums, I think 30'000-40'000 seats is not especially low in Euro championships.

I think the difference this time, is that there's only one big stadium. Previously there have been 3 or 4 in addition to some 30,000 seaters.

I'm hoping to get some through work but won't know until much nearer the time. We work with FIFA though, not UEFA, so not holding out loads of hope.

Might be time to tap up the peeps I know in UEFA!! hehe

I looked at entering the Swiss FA ticket lottery today - you have to enter your nationality and a passport or ID number. What are the chances of a non-Swiss getting any tickets?

Watching Swiss tv last night, you can apply for tickets at the following address https://ticketing.football.ch/ on the Swiss Football association website. From the 9th February 2008 (12:00 hrs) until 16. February 2008 (12:00 hrs). Basically your application gets put into a draw. Sadly everything is in French / German & Italian.

Is that stated in the general terms and conditions (AGB)? On the application page, you can select your nationality from a drop-down list - it doesn't say Swiss only.

Reported on swissinfo:

"The head of the SFA Peter Gilliéron confirmed to swissinfo that the tickets are only on offer to Swiss residents. "
