Classic British sporting events.

How come The Boat Race(s) and The Grand National are on the same day?
I thought that they were normally held on consecutive Saturdays (?)

What is also strange is the Boat Race starting at 5.50pm.

They, for the first time on the same day, also have the Women's' main event, to fit in.

The Grand National is now on Channel 4 (is that the first time it's not on the beeb?) ..... I can't believe that TV is now controlling event timings, because of competitive ratings.

Sadly, that's been happening for decades. One day cricket was pretty much made for TV, and even the Ashes schedule has been shifted (remember the recent ridiculous back-to-back series?) to accommodate the requirements of the broadcaster of the Cricket World Cup.

I remember them being on the same day before. In fact I remember them both being on the same day as Eurovision (Bucks Fizz won).

No way, Josť - all three on the same day?
What to watch? .... that would have been a problem making your mind up. One minute you'd have to speed it up, then you'd have to slow it down, the next - so much indecision.

Indeed. I'm still traumatised 34 years later.

Re: Classic British sporting events.

First day of channel hopping since waving goodbye to Sky Sports. Bring it on. And follow it up with the Masters.
Better go for that run now.
