Friday thread: Breaking News Outdoor sports too risky for Outdoors club

Taking risk assessment a tiny bit too far methinks.

"A university in the US state of Pennsylvania has ruled its Outing Club's activities too risky to continue.

Pennsylvania State risk assessment officials said events like hiking, running and backpacking were too dangerous for a student group.

The 98-year-old club is one of three that will allegedly be disbanded from next semester as a result."

Have you never walked across a meadow in shorts? Some grasses have really sharp edges. Then there's mosquitos, sunburn, gopher holes, hillsides, ticks, snakes, rabid raccoons...

Nonono, it's in the student's best interest.

You could always give each one a gun.

Oh come on, how on earth are mosquitos, ticks, snakes or raccoons going to pull a trigger?

No, but I did lay on the ground in a US national park once and got a load of chigger bites.

Sorry, I thought they were worried about the students. Silly me. We should know better by now.

This is exactly the kind of mortal danger that students need to be protected from.

Communism, you forgot communism.

There's all kinds of subversive stuff in nature.

Quote:
I loaf and invite my soul,
I lean and loaf at my ease observing a spear of summer grass.
If that isn't subversive then what is?
