EF Fantasy Football (NFL) League, any interest?

Okay, all you NFL fans out there: Is there anyone interested in a fantasy football league? Let me know.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions as to a website, etc to be used for a fantasy football league, post here.

I would be interested for sure, but I am not sure
of the best website.

I would play. I'll be moving to Luzern before the NFL season starts. By the way, are there any good pubs that show the NFL?

Go Browns!

You could try Pickwick's? The one in Zug shows it on Sundays (there's also a Pickwick's in Luzern so no need to trek to Zug!)

Yeah, I saw Pickwick's in Luzern when we visited 2 weeks ago for my wife's interview. Though her job is in Rotkreuz so we may end up moving closer to Zug.

If we can get enough people, perhaps it would be fun to meet up at a pub and have a fantasy football draft, just like we did back in the good old days in Ohio (I live in crappy Boston now).

Re: EF Fantasy Football (NFL) League, any interest?

I usually just watch the games that get shown on NASN. The Cablecom deal is probably the best deal to get NFL games.

I like the idea of a draft day. Pickwick's in Zug is close enough for me to travel out. Draft day would have to be in August.

Any suggestions for a league name/theme for teams?

Lofton26? Hmm, sounds football related.

I could be interested. I've never done a live, in-person draft -- just live, online drafts. Could be interesting.

Got any suggestions for a website to host the league?

I wonder if we could do a combination of a live, in person + online draft so we could include folks that might not be able to make a trip out to Zug?

We could all bring laptops with us...

Last edited by gregv; 18.07.2008 at 17:50. Reason: both in person and online are 'live', clarified it.

Or iPhones, judging by the popularity of that thread...wait, no flash on iPhones...the draft program won't work...

I've used nfl.com (same as cbssportsline.com), ESPN.com and one other that I can't remember the name of. Both nfl.com and espn.com are good. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with nfl.com. I'll be running another league on there this year. It's pretty easy to set up once you get all your participant info together.

Sounds good. Let's go with nfl.com then.

Re: EF Fantasy Football (NFL) League, any interest?

I guess I should point out that a 12-team league is probably the best IMO. You'll get 3 4-team divisions. You'll play each team in your division twice (total of 6 games) and each of the other teams once (total of 8). The division winners make the play-offs along with 1 wild card team. Then there's a two-week playoff that finishes during the NFL week 16. This avoids most of the late-season resting of starters by NFL teams.

Re: EF Fantasy Football (NFL) League, any interest?

I honestly prefer Yahoo's free fantasy football, plus I know how to use as I been the commishoner of a fair share of football and baseball leagues.

Lofton is actually for Kenny Lofton, my favorite baseball player of all-time.

I open to suggestions on what we should use still.

Ah, I figured James Lofton.

Re: EF Fantasy Football (NFL) League, any interest?

I've never used Yahoo for FF, but I'm sure it's pretty similar to the others. I'm easy, whatever people want to use is good for me. Both nfl.com and espn have free leagues -- I've never paid for a FF league.

By the way, I'm not moving until August 30th so for me to attend a draft, it would have to be after that date.

James Lofton would have been a fine choice as well.

Yahoo is free too. I'd never pay when there are free options.

I won't be here for awhile after the end of August. Perhaps we'll have to do a live in person/online combo then.

I'm open to anything. I just want to play and hopefully meet some like-minded people along the way.
