Why would the woman complain too theatrically ? Does she have in for Djokovich, is that it ?

Some people just like the attention. She definitely overcooked it a bit. It was as if she had been shot by Bradley Cooper from the movie American Snipper

Re: Djokovich US Open Ouster/Disqualification?

It wasn't intentional as far as it looked. But the ATP rule states:
VIII. THE CODE Section 4. a) - Offenses - Ball Abuse
Quote:
Ball Abuse
  1. Players shall not violently, dangerously or with anger hit, kick or throw a tennis ball while on the grounds of the tournament site except in the reasonable pursuit of a point during a match (including warm-up). For purposes of this rule, abuse of balls is defi ned as intentionally or recklessly hitting a ball out of the enclosure of the court, hitting a ball dangerously or recklessly within the court or hitting a ball with disregard of the consequences.
  2. Violation of this section shall subject a player to a fi ne of up to $350 for each violation. In addition, if such violation occurs during a match, the player shall be penalized in accordance with the Point Penalty Schedule.

I don't know. It's hard to say. Maybe she wanted the attention or maybe she wanted to make sure he won't get away with it.

What did you expect? To apologise because she was in his way? The thing is, he should have been more careful, there's no way we can deny that.

What stuff? People commenting here? To me it seems you're making some serious projections here while some of us try to understand what the hell was that, as the whole episode was very weird.

im not sure it was that weird. a player hit the ball at a line judge who was hurt, player disqualified.

Accusing the person hit by the ball of being an attention seeker does have a name for it, but I'm not sure its 'weird'.

Oh, but you shouldn't stop only at that, you can continue naming the name. I'm not sure you have seen the videos though and that you even care about tennis, but that shouldn't prevent us from having a serious, emotionally charged discussion....

I have a great idea: lets meet and let me use my tennis racket to fire a tennis ball at your throat. Lets see how you and your body react to the shock of that and not being able to breathe for a short amount of time.

There was no way she could even begin to prepare or plan for something like that, the chances of it happening are tiny, and everything you saw was a genuine reaction to what happened to her because there was no time for it to be anything else. Now, do some people deal with such things better than others... for example do different deal better with pain and with shocks than others? Yes, because everyone has a different nervous system and different tolerances to everything. Through my sports and activities and injuries I have seen lots of situations for both myself and others where the mind and body go through that kind of process.

All of you saying that she consciously exaggerated, as though she had the time or luxury to prepare for or think about a situation like that, have no clue what you are talking about. She is someone who was hit in the throat by a ball, had a short period of shock and reactivity, then her body and mind started to return to normal again. Everything else is subjective and speculative BS.

I have been hit by a tennis ball, hockey ball and also cricket ball. Sure we can meet and I can give you a demo of how it feels. Which ball shall we start with on your throat?

I never said that she planned it. My gut reaction was that after the initial pain/shock she played it out bit longer. I never blamed her for getting hit or for Nowak getting disqualified.

I'm not the one accusing someone of overcooking things. I've been hit by cricket balls (and bats when playing wicket keeper) in the face, and I can't think of much worse that that in terms of ball impacts and I was down on the floor for a good while dealing with the pain of the moment. The reason I would never accuse her of exaggerating is because I know what getting hit is like and I know that everyone has different tolerances. She was hit in the throat, on or around the windpipe, and that is never fun to get that kind of impact and it is easy to go into shock while you recover and struggle to breathe.

Very emtionally charged. Seems like the "she's making it up as she goes along" line you're promoting does have an effect though, because she's getting death threats now and is off the circuit (https://nypost.com/2020/09/07/linesw...death-threats/).

Still, thats what you get for over-egging it, eh ?

This was all clearly part of her master plan. I imagine that Djokovic's many enemies within the sport paid her a fortune for just this eventuality.

It was not a serve or high speed shot but easy, it is what it is. Only she knows what she felt. I am hardly contacting the lady and accusing her of overcooking it. I am just speculating like everyone else is, deal with it.

Yes it is the people from this forum who are orchestrating it all For the record I am against any form of violence or even verbal threats. That also for some stupid tennis match.

OK, I have seen more of the thing that got Djokovich disqualified from US Open. He was careless and a bit arrogant, and he shouldn't have been. He didn't throw the ball with anger though, as some have said. The hit was totally unintentional. I think the woman complained a tad too theatrically if you ask me. There's no way she could have had such a pain, it was a very light throw. Whatevs. I don't blame her for putting up a scene (well, at least a little...), it was right to make him pay for that gesture. Anyway, what he did was wrong as you're supposed to watch out where you throw the ball, but I think the decision was too harsh. If I was the empire I would have read him the rules. Aloud. There couldn't have been a bigger humiliation than that.
I'm afraid he and other players won't learn anything from here and it will only make him a "martyr".
Excellent comment, thanks greenmount, completely agree.

What does an effect? Which line I'm promoting? Are you for real? Please read my comments again, I clearly stated he shouldn't have gotten away with hitting someone. Now, if the decision was too harsh or not that's not for us to decide. It was by the rule-book, that's for sure. He won't learn anything though, neither his fans or other players. He's a "martyr" now.

She's getting threats because of my comments on EF? Dude, stop it, you're embarrassing yourself.

I would laugh out loud but it's kind of scary that some people are so ill-intentioned. For the record ditto.

I am, erm, dealing with it by giving my opinion on what you say via this forum. If you don't like that then that's unfortunate, but it's going to keep happening so best get used to it.

I am not sure how it is even possible to take the context of his comment as meaning she was receiving death threats because of your forum posts... I mean... really? That makes no sense and he obviously meant she is getting death threats in real life from angry fans of Djockovic.

You can see many articles here https://www.google.com/search?q=djoc...-8&safe=strict
