Euro 2020

Is there no thread on this? Cannot believe there is no interest.

Holland look refreshing today, a bit chaotic maybe. England were pretty disappointing. Switzerland as well. Belgium solid against a really bad Russian team.

Your highlight so far?
Most impressive team?

(And no, please no Danish hero stories)

Probably because it's really Euro 2021. ;)

I thought about that when writing. Chose 2020 as this is what UEFA still call it, I suppose all the branding stuff necessitates this.

If football were as the 2nd half of Netherlands Vs Ukraine I'd be a fan. What a display of athleticism and skills. I think no player made a drama in the last 30 min, just playing to the limit of their abilities. Bravo.

For us beating Croatia is a relief. We have a terrible record against them. Germany will probably win while England go out heroically at the quarter finals. Given we only have to beat Scotland to get that far I don't think I'm being too optimistic.

I wish the Germans had as much confidence in Germany as the British always have :D

France looks strong.
Germany not as strong anymore but you never know with them.
Portugal and Spain unpredictable.

They looked decent against Turkey.

The only time I remember you being as crap as us is when you had that 200 cm guy who looked a bit like a neo-nazi (I'm sure he's a lovely bloke but he really does) playing as a lone striker around 2000. For the life of me I can't remember his name.

Otherwise Germany seem to always win everything

Carsten Jancker.

Also, last European championship for Germany was 25 years ago in that peripheral country I can't remember now.

As a 7 year old I really thought we were going to win. Sadly I should have realised that a team that can't beat Switzerland in the group stages isnt likely to get far.

I remember that entire competition vividly. All the rest have more or less blended into each other. All I can otherwise remember is David beckham kicking Diego Simone, basically throwing the match and Ronaldinho chipping David Seaman.

Think I'll wait until I've seen the first round of games before submitting my prediction. Belgium looked solid, and Italy were a revelation, never seen them play such a brand of football before. Looking forward to seeing how France play following an alleged training field bust up. Germany, Spain and Portugal too.

England have the squad to challenge but the squad selection yesterday didn't fill me with confidence. Playing a RB at LB to shoe a set piece taker into the team, having the most creative player not even sat on the bench. Tyrone Mings looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Still, a win's a win!

Finally it was a disgrace that Denmark v Finland was allowed to continue after such a traumatic event!

I don't want to see Seferovic start for Le Nati, ever again. Serial bottler

Embolo though, wow - hope he stays injury free

I don't think Simeone nor Ronaldhino played in the Euros though...

But I did see Ronaldinho and his entourage in a nightclub a few years ago!!

I barely have any football knowledge so I tipped England since they basically play at home

I don't get it, why shove the RB into a LB instead of playing him at RB itself? The one who played RB (Walker?) turned out to be the worse player in the team. Couldn't pass the ball at all in the first half.
