US Open Women's Final

To all EF tennis fans:

How excited are you to watch the US Open final between Fernandez and Raducanu?

I have followed both through their respective journies and think this may be the best thing to happen for women's tennis and the tour in general.

Should be a very exciting match; that said, I would give Raducanu the edge but if Fernandez won, I would be equally happy!

Both seem to love competing (unlike Osaka) and seem unfazed by the media attention (for now). Time will tell but very excited for both players

I gather you missed my intro: "TO ALL EF TENNIS FANS".

If you are not into tennis then why respond?

I don't get some EF members...

In any case, unprecedented to see two unseeded player in a Final! Love to see that there is a new generation making an impact. There are a talented group of youngsters in the Men's bracket as well. Truly a "golden age" of tennis!

Tsk tsk tsk

I like to see young blood challenge the established players (and beating them in this case). Go underdogs, go!

The same is long overdue among the men.

Hey..I am all for veterans. I would have been rooting for Serena if she was in this tournament (but think she would have lost to these two and others frankly!)

I am rooting for Medvedev to beat Djoko in the Men's final

Wow! What a finish! Raducanu is a force and then some. She went in as a qualifier and never lost a set! Unbelievable!!

Re: US Open Women's Final

Impressive tournament run for Raducanu, bizarre scenes of her being escorted into the stands to celebrate with her team though - looked poorly organized

I missed the first hour, did something happen that might explain why Fernandez was so upset over the medical timeout when she had a breakpoint?

Cringeworthy post match from the Canadian though playing the 9/11 card in front of NYers

Re: US Open Women's Final

I'm a real tennis junkie... I watched last night until 4-5am the men semi-final
for me the highlight of the match was Rod Laver flirting with his date and she was very handsy in a way there was a lot of action going on there in the vip seats

Raducanu really did amaze me because her game is not based on force and copying Serena ... But that all court game and having an amazing return of serve something I rarely see in womens tennis . Her game has something that's a mix of justine henin and clijsters , power and tactics..

I'm rooting for Djokovic and tennis records and for history !

Nothing happened earlier. I think she lost her cool a bit towards the end - understandable at that age.

The speech was cringe, I agree - but again she's young.

Re: US Open Women's Final

I watched the whole match. Raducanu grazed her knee while sliding for a shot. Blood was seeping down her knee to her calf hence the medical timeout. I don't think in any way this was gamesmanship

Nope, she was just having a paddy because she was on a bit of a points roll when Emma needed to have her knee, which was pouring blood down her shin, taped.

Yeah I saw this live but assumed something had happened earlier in the match else it was inexplicable how the player could be upset much less emotional over legitimate medical timeout
