Qatar 2022

Who do you think will get through each pool? And who do you want to see in the finals?

I'm from Canada originally so I'd love for that but I don't know if we can make it through the group stages. Would be happy to see England in another finals, the fans are a bit.. crazy?

The team that slips the FIFA referees the right amount of money before the game?

Re: Qatar 2022

World cup football has become a farce. Bribes everywhere. Facilities, most of which will be abandoned after the games, built with near slave labour with little safety rules. Tens of thousands of immigrant workers have died in the Qatari construction industry since they were awarded the competition.

It’s no longer about the fans, nor about the players, it’s all about the money.

That’s why I will boycott this World Cup and its sponsors.

And if you didn’t know these are

BYJU’s
Budweiser
Hisense
Mc Donalds
Vivo

FIFA partners are

Adidas
Coca-Cola
Wanda Group
Hyundai
Qatar Airways
Visa

What the hell do Budweiser, McDonalds, CocaxCola, have to do with sport anyway? Their products are the opposite of healthy.

And away we go with the uninteresting yet foreseeable bitching and moaning about FIFA, Qatar and bad corporations.

England have a good team. Have to familiarize myself with the groups and hopefully we can have a discussion about football.

They were particularly good when they played against Hungary the other day...

Fun fact: all 3 pulled out of Russia but are ok with this football championship..

I agree with you in principle, but Qatar really is one of the most unsuitable places on earth to hold this competition.

Bowlie I was surprised by “tens of thousands”, so looked it up. I’d say you are on the high side by any measure, but it’s still a ridiculous number of immigrant workers who have died in Qatar since the World Cup was awarded (note the wording which distinguishes between a direct result of the World Cup).

On paper, France and England look good. As always, I cannot judge Brazil. As always, Argentina and the African teams will be hyped but go nowhere.

Iran - Saudi would make a nice match after group stage, but I doubt either makes it out of the group.

The Canada group is not too strong, but then I have never seen Canada play. I know Alphonso Davies, but that is where it ends.

I personally don't see England as any stronger than Germany, Spain or Netherlands at the moment.

I have to admit, I didn't really follow international football much lately. That's why I say on paper. Germany looked horrid though in the last few games before they beat Italy - but I wouldn't read too mich into this either.

As for Qatar, yes it sucks and they should have never gotten to host the cup. But you can say the same for many of the Olympics or Formula One or lately golf venues.

Belgium and Croatia to cruise through the Canada group for me.

You need to update your table!

Group B:

Wales defeated Ukraine 1-0 courtesy of an unfortunate own goal by the Ukrainian captain.

It was widely reported by the British and Iranian news media :)

Re: Qatar 2022

A: Netherlands and Senegal
B: England and USA
C: Argentina and Mexico
D: France and Denmark
E: Spain and Germany
F: Belgium and Croatia
G: Brazil and Serbia
H: Portugal and Uruguay

then it's anybody's game. I think Brazil goes all the way

France continues to be the most talented disorganized team

So no surprises at all? How boring. Like the Doha Christmas market.
