Formula 1

So, anybody looking forward to the 2009 F1 season???

Personally I can't wait and am hoping to see some in a bar or something in Zug.
If anyone is into F1 and wants a bit of banter etc post away

I'm a Ferrari man hoping Kimi pulls his act together. Also, a bit gutted that my man DC has retired but looking forward to seeing on the BBC commentary.

Also hope Alonso and Red Bull do well.

New F1 season link The 2010 Formula One Championship

just saw the and liked it!!

Re: F1 2009

yea am looking forward to the 2009 season ....and hoping that Mclaren can add the constructors crown to their drivers crown last year....

early season tests indicate that ferrari and renault are the class of the field so far ...with bmw following close behind ....

i would ideally like to follow the season with a group of ppl maybe in some bars or pubs which broadcast the races in Basel (or nearby)....

yea and of course make a pilgrimage to belgium and italy (monza) this year ....

Not exactly sure about Kimi's motivation factor this year .... and felipe massa (with all due respect to his driving talents) is not a match on him when he is on fire ....

Re: F1 2009

Yep looking forward to it. I was sad to hear Mclaren are currently uncompetitive. That does not mean to say they won't win races as the reliability comes into it.

I have recently seen some F1 cars at the Geneva car show and at my local Commercial Centre Signy Centre near Nyon. I think that's the closest I have been to them after watching it for so many years on TV.

I look forward to the day I can take my son to a Grand Prix. As even at his age (3) he seems to love driving

Re: F1 2009

Only a few days to the start of the F1 2009 season....

Brawn F1 seems to be doing well, strange Honda couldnt do anything for years.
Kimi will be the man this year

I'll be heading to the Mr Pickwick in Zug for the qualifying...If they put it on that is.

Such a shame we are stuck in the "Football/ Sports" area. Lets get a decent area for motorsports

Re: F1 2009

Hi,

Any idea if there are pubs/bars in Basel which show the F1 weekend live (Qualifying + Race)?

Also, would be glad to team up with a crowd of F1 fanatics. Nothing like hollering down a group of Ferrari fans!

Besides religious shows there isn't much else on at 6 am on a Sunday morning so if know of a pub that opens at that time I'd guess they'd probably make an exception this weekend and be showing the race instead..

Re: F1 2009

Actually the race telecast time is 8 am CET on Sunday. We gained a lil bit because of Daylight Saving Time !

But BBC1 starts coverage at 7 am, that gives you one hour of blah blah blah till you finally wake up for the green light

Re: F1 2009

Race starts 5PM Melbourne time.

For this weekend only, Melbourne is 9 hours ahead of Switzerland which makes it an 8AM race start for us.

And nothing much happens after the first lap so you can be back in bed by 8:05

Re: F1 2009

I am so excited about the F1 season starting. Its been missed over the cold winter months.
I am a McLaren fan so will be watching those boys closely. I do like to keep my eye on Kimi though and before he retired DC. I guess after watching them drive for McLaren you like to see how they perform with rival teams.

One thing bugging me though..... It has all moved back to the BBC now and apart from hoping they have the famous classic F1 music, I really really want to be able to press the RED BUTTON!!!!! How cool does that sound. Swap cameras, on board camers, Stat boards, driver interviews.... oh god, how I miss the BBC red button option.
