The "not interested in the World Cup Soccer" thread
Bite me if you like, but soccer leaves me cold. Here's the thread for non-soccer discussion for those who feel that life continues and football is played by 22 guys on the gridiron.
News from Canada: The 2010 season kicks off July 1 (Canada Day) with current Grey Cup holders Montreal playing at Saskatchewan. Will the Roughriders start out new QB Todd Reesing?
News from the NFL: The lower 49 start their official season Thursday, September 9 when the Vikings visit reigning Superbowl champs the Saints in N'Orleans.
Re: The "not interested in the World Cup Soccer" thread
That's already better than news coming in from South Africa that some soccer star has possibly sprained his left outer fingernail on an errant croissant....
Soccer players are pansies anyways...and possibly the worst athletes.
Yup, true dat. You could throw the fact that they earn too much for too little into the mix, but I didn't want to start a soccer bashing thread as there are clearly a few people out there who enjoy watching men running around pointlessly for hours on end and then congratulating each other on a 0:0 result as a "tactical victory".

I didn't grow up with soccer and do not understand the rules so for me, it truly is a matter of watching men (with great legs!) running around on a field for an hour or so.
I'm much more entertained by more "primal" sports though like rugby and American football. (And at least in the case of American Football, I do have some clue of the rules.)

..well, the huge earnings are, as a matter of fact, to cover their expenses for hairgel. Also, any sport where men hug more than once during the duration of a game (starting at warmup) should be banned and/or put into the same category as curling, chess and collecting spiderman figurines (sorry Kevlegs).
Re: The "not interested in the World Cup Soccer" thread
I must admit that I do like the whole athmosphere around the World Cup. I went to Berlin for the last one just for that and it was amazing. Didnt get to watch 1 min of soccer but tons of booze , hot girls and a blast.
Re: The "not interested in the World Cup Soccer" thread
I am not a sports fan of any kind, however I do enjoy a bit of soccer. Mostly to keep current with the Husband's life. But I do find this thread hilarious! AND is how I feel about the Olympics if anyone is interested!

...wait, wait, wait...you cannot put the olympics on the same level as soccer. As a matter of fact, I'm not quite sure if you're allowed to use the s-word in the same sentence as the mighty olympics.

Give me womens beach volleyball anytime over soccer . And during the winter olympics, I found the curling to be quite hypnotic, that could have been the grape juice however

When I Was In Oz a bunch of my friends had the same questions due to the simpsons Episode stating this fact about the southern hemisphere. Enough to say that a quick search on youtube will show you toilet water running both ways in China and southern hemisphere countries.

You can, as football (to use its correct name) is an Olympic sport.
But better sports are available this summer in the form of rugby as the Northern Hemisphere teams go South for a bid of blood letting (aka getting their pants pulled down and royally shafted by stronger quicker SH teams all in the name of "development").
As much as I want to agree with you...what's up with all the ass slapping?! That's straight out of the pansy handbook surely
Yeah, it is weird. Manly men slapping each other on their manly butts. Whatever. But you are showing my favorite American football team, the Stillers. (if you are a native Pittsburger, that's how you'd say it). Well, except that the QB is a total a$$, but they will recover.
As for soccer, the first soccer I ever watched was in the Netherlands and my Dutch is pretty poor. Most of the time, when soccer is on the TV, it's in a foreign language, so I don't understand it. I like to keep it that way. And, I married probably one of the few Dutch men who is also soccer oblivious. Now speed skating.... that is cool. Curling was cool too.
