Was he really that good? I don't remember many dangerous shots at goal from the spanish? (they did have a few just wide)

...Or are you just writing that because you find hime cute
No of course I didn't write this because he's cute even though he is a rather decent looking young chap is he not?!

He is quite a good goalkeeper though and he sure did a good job this afternoon!!!

Oh dear, what a nice moment this is!!!
They, the Swiss, can go home now. It can't get any better than this ... and the people are so happy around here, lovely!!!

Just out of curiosity is this a "Any boss who sacks a worker for not turning up today is a bum" (Bob Hawke) moment or do they win a game every year?

Hehe, we keep trying at least.. but seriously, I think this is the first time we actually beat Spain, before we only had losses and some deuces..

Anyway, around here, there was nothing being done workwise for two hours.. really, everybody was in front of the TV and computers.. so I guess your quote applies today

IT was an unfair game under my point of view...but i guess my point of view doesnt count much because i hold a spanish passport

It was great fun to cheer for Spain in the middle of a Swiss crowd...we deserved to win though...just sayin!

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

Congratulations to Switzerland.

Assuming Spain will win their remaining two group matches and Switzerland beat Honduras it makes the Switzerland v Chile the critical match of the group. If Switzerland lose this one and three teams end up on 6 points, they could be cursing the second goal miss.

If they draw, or beat Chile, it would almost certainly put Spain second in the group to face Brazil in the next round.

Share your thoughts after Switzerland 1 vs Spain 0

I just tell you that I'm alone in my Argentinean home very, very happy after the game! I never, never thought that the national team of my tiny country went to beat the much-hyped Spanish team!

WOW, today was DAS WUNDER VON DURBAN!

BTW, I read a funny Argentinean article telling the match with this title:

Para España, el chocolate suizo del debut tuvo un gusto demasiado amargo

(For Spain, the debut's Swiss chocolat had a bitter tast.)

Yes, a bit racist remark but I can't avoid a chuckle.

I put €10 on Switzerland to win the competition at 300-1. I recommended the same to people here.

Switzerland are an emerging force in football. Their under 17s won the World Cup last year. No team is going to scare them. They faced Spain and although they did not play well they beat them. That's football.

The Swiss team are lacking in skill but they will not be phased by any major opposition. If you have money on them then you should worry more about them facing a poor team rather than a good team.

At the end of the day, they will not prevail against Germany. Germany are going to win it this year. It does not matter if the Brazilians can score goals with their d*cks. The Germans will just stick 7 men in defense to stop them.

Re: Share your thoughts after Switzerland 1 vs Spain 0

I just won a bet on Switzerland winning against Spain at odds of 13.5 to 1.

Now Spain has become less likely to win the tournament than Germany (according to the betting odds).

This could be Switzerland's most important world cup victory ever? The last time they won an opening game was in 1954 in Bern.

The odds of Switzerland winning the tournament are now 126 to 1. Perhaps worth a flutter given that they have just beaten the favourites!

From myself and my Spanish fellows: -> ->

It is what it is, for some miracle happen and for others God does not exist !

It was a sweet-and-sour match for me: Sour for seeing my dream team losing, but sweet since at least they lost against my second favorite! Way to go Switzerland!

I am looking forward for the match this Saturday against Honduras, hope we can make it this time!

At the end of your vid, did you see a cyclist whizzzzing past with a Swiss flag or wearing CH colours?!

Mmmm?

P.S. Little Cham in Zug canton has been honking, hooting and even 'Ole, ole, ole'-ing off and on for the past one hour plus! Who says it's dead?!

Luzern has gone nuts, bridge closed, everyone honking their horns, flags waving, buses cancelled, traffic jams, and it's only the first game!

I guess your neighborhood was left in a desert with some bored housewives who aren't into football much and their men are having a blast elsewhere!!!
