I thought Switzerland were pretty measured. They had some decent chances even when they were a man down. You can't expect a team like switzerland to completely dominate a team like chile. They didnt have the pace and flair and so they take a bit to get into the game. But good on you if you think you can get a good jist of a team's intentions in 20 mins.

For the Suisse match, the ref was handing out cards like candy. Cant say the first red card wasnt deserved by the Swiss. But well played Chile. Exciting, pretty football.

How could you say it was deserved? I think the only argument for it would be that Kaka got one last night for even less.

After hearing about Chile's attacking class I was looking forward to this match but I found Chile most definitely did not stand up to the hype.
The red was harsh but I've seen them given tons of times (Barca-Inter for example) Behrami shouldn't have given the ref a decision to make especially after seeing how petty he was reffing so he's only got himself to blame.
Going through the websites and listening to SF, I've found the reporting of the game getting very embarrasing. The goal wasn't offside.(certain members of the press have wanted to sensationalise it by saying it was arguable)
There's been much said about the Chile player going down so easy but I've yet to see a comment condeming Grichting going down like he lost an eye dispite being pushed in the chest.
All in all though Switzerland are still favourites to qualify. Spain will beat Chile and all Switzerland have to do is beat Honduras

His shirt was already being tugged - that would have earned him a free kick anyway but no, he had to raise his hand - albeit to hold Vidal off but swinging your hands is a no-no isnt it - especially not when the referee seems to have a card quota of his own to fill. Madness.

If Switzerland have all 11 men playing; I think they should beat Hondurous if they don't get too complacent.

Still, it didn't warrant a red card. A red card is only given for a malicious attack which that never was. You might argue that he was playing with fire and got burned but to say it was deserved is just silly..

do two wrongs make a right? You could argue that Kaka got sent off yesterday for much less but that doesn't change the fact that it wasn't a red card. The goal was offside, the replay clearly showed that, it was very minimal but still offside. basta!

He was a bit stupid to do what he did because it was evident that the referee was issuing yellow cards like nobodies business.
I think that if he had not been sent off; Switzerland could have one with an extra 10% of energy and definately drawn; so he lost it for Switzerland.

No 2 wrongs don't make a right but if you want to whinge about the world being against you please don't be a hypocrite.
If the link worked right you'll see they were at worst on the same level. You saying basta doesn't change that. Even SF on their website http://www.sport.sf.tv/Nachrichten/A...ront_top#video
and the experts after the game begrudenly admitted that

(He wasn't even watching the ball so he could turn around to check the Chilean getting a proper hit. )
Anyway - Forza Svizzera!!

Sorry; you are right; I thought he already had a yellow card.
I miss understood the commentator; he elbowed two people in a row. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/matches/match_31
I love the Chocolate beats Paella spectator banner in the Spanish vs Swiss game which was shown by the BBC after the Swiss brown player scored the goal. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...tches/match_31

Why would I whinge about the world being against me? I support Germany. I still see that as a slight offside but I agree a decision like that could go either way. Doesn't change the fact about the card though.

If one (ie. the press) wants to whinge about the world being against them and about those cheating diving latinos , then they shouldn't ignore the even worse dive by one of their own otherwise they lose any credibility.
And with regards to the red if you whack a guy in the head then your asking the ref to make a decision and plenty of times the decision has been red. After seeing how petty the ref was, it takes an idiot to do it 2 times within 10 seconds. Once to a different oppenent then he whacked the other one in the chest, saw he was too low raised his elbow even higher then whacked him in the face. Total stupidity. It wasn't a clear red but it falls into the ' I've seen them given' category.
