I switched over to a German channel. Interestingly the commentator there is of the opinion that it would have been an entirely different game if the goal had been allowed. Morale counts for a lot in football.

Just because the score is currently 4:1 doesn't mean it would have been 4:2 if the goal had been allowed. It sours the German victory. Further, when you're one goal ahead, you concentrate on stopping the other side from scoring.

At least it's unlikely to end with German one goal ahead. Or, worse, having gone to penalties.
