I've been eating a Bratwurst and Sauerkraut, drinking Weissbier and making love to a beautiful woman all afternoon. How's the England match going? Did they win?
In lieu of thanks, I'm going to buy you a beer - you can even choose the brand.

It felt like England was led to the slaughterhouse being beaten 4-1.
Yep, an absolute slaughter - but hey, I look on the bright side. At least I don't have to watch another bloody football match for another four years

england was sleepwalking during the whole wcup..so it's good that the germans gave them today the wake-up call. The difference between the 2 teams was really high.
The English have been getting wakeup calls since the Boer War - but they seem to oversleep them. You can't blame Capello, it's systemic

England capitulate as Germany run riot

Germany will meet the winner of the Argentina vs. Mexico, should be yet another interesting match.

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

It's a sad, sad day (and I don't even like football). But this is England ...

And this small island that I am on is strangely silent, unlike last week when it went absolutely crazy!

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

Intense rivals....

England Vs Germany (done)
Spain Vs Portugal (to come)

Maybe Brazil Vs Argentina to top if off too in the later stages? Btw Brazil has got an easy match with Chile's B team. I was really impressed by Chile but boy they lack discipline and half the team is suspended I think LOL

Argentina Vs Mexico could get tricky tonight LOL

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

The commentary on BBC says it all

I wonder if the tactics are indeed old:

Quote:
England with old fashioned rigid 4-4-2, Germany with the modern, fluid 4-2-3-1. Capello, England are living in the past.
BTW, Argentina vs Mexico on broadband available here.

I meant four years before there's a match that I consider to be required watching.

Although I enjoyed Euro 2008, it was not because of the football, but due to the fact that the seefeld side of the lake was one big party zone. Shame that's not going to happen again in my lifetime.

Anyway my last post in this thread. Nothing more needs to be said - well by me anyway

Of course you do. You need to watch the Germany vs Argentina match, and think about how it could be England out there... getting slaughtered...

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

With that second unnoticed England goal and the first allowed Argentina "goal", some changes are going to have to be made in football for the information age.

1) Have a fourth judge on the side with access to monitors who'll be able to quickly clarify difficult decisions.

2) Speaking of difficult decisions, be ready to reinstate goals that were wrongly called offside.

3) Sanction flopping. If a guy falls, and the camera judge sees that he was clearly flopping. INSTANT RED CARD! He's cheating, he's gone. All flopping would end in a few months.

Friends of mine from America who weren't football fans but have tried, really tried, to watch these last few matches have just been outraged. They're seeing a sport with zero integrity, and I don't know what to tell them. These changes wouldn't be so hard to make

You are living dangerously here - Germany is very beatable - just because the Brits were too stupid to manage it doesn't mean Ghana can't.
