By who? By Pub football specialists? Clearly not by Capello.
By the people who saw Heskey play every match.

Quote:
Maybe because England play better with Heskey than with Crouch?
His role is not to score goals but to defend from the front, keep the ball and help with link up play.
In your opinion.

Quote:
This is tongue in cheek? surely? Are you talking about the David James in the England camp?

He wouldn't have fumbled the ball like that. A bad pass to another player resulkting in a goal, yes, very crappy... but fumbling a slow rollng ball?

Quote:
The USA are not a bad team. Capello knows his stuff.
Im sure he is incapable of making mistakes.

Of course he isn't. You think Capello is really that stupid? You don't think he hasn't realised by now that scoring goals isn't Heskey's biggest talent?

Of course if Heskey scores nobody will complain but he isn't playing in that position because he can score goals.
Should have made you manager, you seem a bonafide expert.

When FIFA actually take an interest in football and stop being a bunch of corrupt crooks trying to fill their own pockets.
Yeah that sounds about right.... I wonder how much cut of the 'new ball' sales they pocket.

While we're on it, those vuvuzelas are a right pain - Im pretty open minded about these things but they must be driving millions/billions bezerk with their CONSTANT DRONE. They add nothing to the atomosphere, distract players and their onfield communications all because FIFA dont want to Europeanise the flavour of the game.

Well who's talking

On the contrary I am saying that Capello knows what he is doing. You seem to be the expert around here explaining what Capello has done wrong and how he should correct it.

Can anyone please tell me (or more importantly Capello) why do England always lose possesion of the ball from throw ins?

Dear Referees.
Stop giving out yellow cards and attempting to steal the limelight, your job is to keep the game flowing and stop obvious cheating

Tackling is allowed, diving isn't, please stop penalising the former and supporting the latter.

I doubt Capello is stupid but I would like to know why England resorted playing the route 1 long ball game.

So what is Heskey there to do? you are obviously in Capello's inner sanctum. Indulge me ....

Martin O'Neil seems to be in the same camp as me ....

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

I think England were outplayed by a more comitted and tactically better team for many periods of the game. USA won almost all the 50-50 balls and England (dare I say it) seemed to lack the passion that USA showed.
It can surely only get better and I think he should play Michael Dawson alongside John Terry.
Hesky? well for sure he won a lot in the air and did help sreate the goal but that miss, when he shot straight at the goalkeeper (again) was very costly.
The quality of crossing was atrocious and it just proves that we miss someone with the capability of Beckham.
As for the England fans in the Landesmuseum . . well

. . well what I was going to say, when I pressed the wrong button, was that most of the England fans spent half of the game talking amongst themselves . . there was no atmosphere.

I watched it on the big screen down at Ouchy (Lausanne) and there was a similar display from the spectators there; stiff upper lips all round from the English and the Americans

Ghana Vs Serbia match was boring! Serbia were unlucky in the end. Good luck to Ghana though. I hope Germany Vs Australia is more entertaining.

well we for sure will have to count with the germans. they displayed a lot of energy and creativity so far (4:0) in front of a lost australian team.

Ouch. Seriously.

Germans played superbly.

I still don't think Cahill deserved the red card .

Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

Well that was a harsh wake-up call for Australian "football".... really as bad as it gets. Not only were we totally humiliated but our only consistent goal scorer sits out the next two games, just when we need him most. Dark days ahead if we cant manage at least one win in this group... dark days.

Its going to be an interesting game as everyone knows that Germany always bring their game on big occasions, but with Ballack out and die Mannschaft fielding their youngest team for decades together with the 'unknown' factor of Australia - ie we still have only ever won one game at a WC that being Japan 4 years ago, Kewell will he or wont he or more precisely has he still got it after sitting out the last 5+ months through injury, can Kennedy rise to the occasion, will Bresciano actually do anything (perhaps now that he's without club he will try harder to impress)...... all these questions, all these unknowns..... but my gut feeling is we could get thrashed. I hope I'm wrong. Go the Socceroos!!!!
Man I hate it when I'm right....

I don't know if we all receive exactly the same FIFA broadcasted feed, but everytime germany scored they showed just immediately after it the face of the australian coach! It was really mean
