Re: 2010 World Cup actual match discussion here (all matches)

I was watching it with a lot of germans. But the 2 yellow cards for diving made me feel A LOT better

Red card decision was horrible. Yellow card at most. Pretty reckless though

In all the pre-cup confusion, I think we sent our cricket team.

That's FIFA trying to make amends (and failing miserably) for the shocker of a decision in Australia's second round match vs Italy in the last World Cup, when the ref rewarded a blatant Italian dive with a penalty to Italy in stoppage time ... otherwise we would undoubtedly have gone all the way and won the World Cup, as Italy did.

Typical Yanks, no idea of Geography outside of their home country, if they had read this site they would certainly have worked out the difference between Great Britain, England etc.

Missed the first but Cacau was jumping to get out of the way, is he supposed to just stand there and get hit?

PS - As the NY Post is the equivalent of The Sun (and both are Murdoch rags), I wouldn't take it too seriously...

I thought the same: Özil obviously tried it, fully justified yellow card. But Cacao in my eyes simply tried to avoid any unnecessary contact when already leading 3:0... this was not even a promising free kick position or anything else... but since he is the joker typically only playing 20 mins, the card should not hurt too much...

Support Switzerland in the World Cup

I wonder how many on this forum will be supporting Switzerland in the World cup.

One points this out because there are so many people on here that state they should integrate and be patriotic to the country they live in.

So when Switzerland meet up with the UK, USA, Australia, NewZealand, South Africa etc. who will we be supporting?

Switzerland's first game is on Wednesday evening against Spain.
I wonder how many of us will even be watching the game?

Re: Support Switzerland in the World Cup

when it comes to sports now...I support the better player/team. period.
Football, tennis...etc are just entertaining games really ! So I should enjoy it rather than being driven by emotions, patriotism...etc.
I would support Spain against Switzerland because they play better!

To get you in the mood

Was just listening to http://1.fm USA 80s hits and a song came on called "Scatterlings of Africa" I probably haven't heard this song since the 80s but I find it very catchy. It got me thinking about other African themed songs since WM soccer is underway... Others which came to mind... of course "Toto - Africa" but also the Africa styled album from "Paul Simon - Graceland"

Johnny Clegg Scatterlings of Africa

TOTO - Africa

patriotic? who said that? what "you" should do is: come here, integrate and stop complaining "back home it is like/we have like/ we dont do/ we would do..." man up or whimp out!

and germany wins the cup. fin.
