Bruce was in his primary school class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up; fireman, policeman, salesman, etc.
Bruce was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.
"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay club and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offer's really good, he'll go out with a man, rent a cheap room and let them have their way with him."
The teacher hurriedly set the other children to work on some colouring and then took Bruce aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"
"No," said Bruce, "My father plays cricket for Australia, but I was just too embarrassed to say"
Oh dear me, Aussies skittled for 268, and only got that many thanks to a tail-end comeback. Another big failure for Ponting, Clark etc. I don't think the England team is anything special, but they do seem to have a good spirit and have done their homework. The Aussies, frankly, are awful at the moment. Shame .

By the standards of many English teams, it's a pretty good one at the moment. The batsmen have all matured . . . even KP stayed in for a big score, there is depth to the bowling selection (we've continued to succeed without Broad) and our fielding has been superb.

I would like to see how we'd do against India.
Yes, sorry, I should clarify my statement. I do think this is the best England team I've seen since 2005, but you're right, test series against India and SA would be the true tests of a "great" team. Incidentally, India and SA kick off a 3-test series today, Sehwag gone for a duck already....
Dhoni manages to loose all the important tosses. It looks like a difficult pitch to bat on and we are already 2 down. Am just hoping Sachin and Dravid stitch a good 100+ partnership.
Question for cricket fans---how come whenever I hear about this sport, it's always national teams playing? Like Australia vs. England or India vs. New Zealand. Why do I never hear that the Manchester Jaguars played the London Redcoats?
Whereas football is an urban game and hence based around cities, cricket was predominantly a game of the countryside, which means that in England teams are based around counties.
Test matches between national teams are played in a format that doesn't exist at the county level: the five day match (some tests are shorter).
