Re: Build up to the Ashes

Oh dear. Never underestimate the Aussies. Or never underestimate how overconfident the English can get?

Re: Build up to the Ashes

So . . . predictions for the next match?

Might be very interesting indeed. England will have to wake up. Australia have woken up.

I still think England will edge it . . .

Australia have their tails up, hostile MCG crowd?

I'm not so sure.....

Are the Ashes lost Shane? His response, in words, was: "Just about." The body language said: "Of course they are, you know they are, we know they are."...To have insisted that Australia — 246 runs away from avoiding an innings defeat with only three fit batsmen remaining, and two days still to play — were not yet beaten would have been the height of absurdity
What a day, I was all prepared for Punter to come out and smash 150 and still be there at the end of play.
Anyone else been watching Two Pricks at the Ashes
Worth going back over a couple if you have missed out.

Also my new favourite image...reminds me of Anderson standing in front of Mitchell Johnson after he was sledging.

Silly me.

Of course one side was going to win decisively. That's been the main theme of this series. No grey . . . just black and white.

Re: Build up to the Ashes

Strauss wins the Boxing Day toss at the MCG, "You guys can bat" he says to Punter, "No, we can't" replies the Aussie skipper, "We really can't".

Sent to me by a native-born Melbournian no less

Indeed. Let the bells ring out!

So . . . are we going to win the Fifth test too? I do hope so.

And should we drop Collingwood and bring in new blood, for development reasons?

Re: Build up to the Ashes

Would like a win or a drawer, then we can say we have properly won the Ashes in Australia.

I would move Bell to 5th and give Collingwood a last chance with the bat.

So, Punter's out then.

'Broken finger' rather than 'broken spirit' apparently.

Re: Build up to the Ashes

I tried staying up until the lunch interval on days 2 and 3 but it just killed me and I went to bed early last night.

So . . . farewell to the Ginger Ninja. Who to replace him? Just slot in Broad in the longer term?

Managed to make it to lunch each day so far. Bloody knackered now. Hopefully won't be up too late tonight though .

Aye, sad to see Colly go, but I think he could see the writing on the wall, best to go with dignity than be pushed. Broad? Not sure, I think he needs to improve his batting. I'd go for Morgan.
