| | Calling all football fans and fantasy football maestros (TFFO Only)
Hi all,
Last season I tried to get some of you together for a bit of online Fantasy Football. What is Fantasy Football? There are many versions of the game, we play the Telegraph game. The game is based on the English Premiership and it works like this: - You pay to play, £10 buys you a team (you can buy more, I think it's £20 for 3 teams)
- With your virtual budget you buy a squad
- You then play God by selecting your players for grouped fixtures
You can find out more about how it works here
Basically you score points according to the actual performance of the players in the league. Players get 5 points for a goal, 2 for an assist, -1 for conceding a goal, 1 point for a start, 1 point for a clean sheet etc. You select a star man for each fixture and his points are doubled.
You are given 12 transfers for the season.
It is highly addictive and the fun lasts all season.
Within the entire game mini leagues can be created, so not only can you test your management soothsaying skills against some 15000 people, but you can teach your mates a thing or two. How do we play it? To make the game more interesting, we alter the setup. What we do is we have all members start off with the same team (selected by the previous season's winner - in this case it's none of you so I'll volunteer ). After the first weekend's play, everyone has the same points, after this you can do with your team as you see fit.
This adds an extra dimension to the game. All the various permutations make for interesting discussion and fun.
Registration is open on the www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball page so get busy registering.
I will create a mini league and anyone who wants to join should make themselves known on this thread. |

Sounds like a plan mate...I hope you intend to have Van Persie and Da Silva as your strike force |

I'm in.
Upset though that I can't waste away all the work hours selecting my own team...my company should pay you commission for making me more productive.

We can have several (and we do) mini leagues. |

Please PM me your email addresses so that I can keep you all in the loop.
Also, note that we play TFFO and not TFF. TFFO is coming soon and has not opened for registration yet.

Update:
It is time to buy a few teams. I will be sending those who enter a template team and the details of the mini league you will be entered into.
You have time to configure other teams you'd like to play, so register and get used to the interface, check out how to transfer players etc. There is a grace period, so nothing is fixed yet.
If anyone is unclear how this works let me know.
PS. It seems this year the telegraph has a problem with people outside of the UK. This can't stop you from playing, but I think it stops you from winning the £20K - if you think you're good enough then make sure to register under a UK address.
So, Planthead, Polorise and Brett are in.... anyone else up for Telegraph fantasy football?

I'm already in a league, and I'm too lazy to start up another...
...although I did see that the one in The Times has an interesting twist in that once someone has picked a player, nobody else (presumably just in your league) can. Their tagline was "Find out which of your mates knows his arsene from his eboue" |

Enter the squad any time before Saturday 12:45 and confirm your team name and email that you used for registration with me. If you are not sure about how to set a starman for each fixture, let me know.
It would be good if you could send screen shots of your team configuration so that it can all be validated.
Please get this done as soon as possible as I am away this weekend.
Cheers.
PS. for this game, no arguments about the players, if you've got other opinions about squad members, that's what you buy other teams for. |

Teams up.
Not figured out the star men, and how it all works yet, thought I'd save that for a Fridaz at work.
