Re: The 2011 Formula One Championship

so has webber signed his own resignation letter? ignoring team orders
(not that redbull have team orders, oh no, not us, oh hang on, what I meant is we don't have team orders for seb)

now redbull have paid for whatshisname to drive a HRT mark must realise that its all over for him, good on him, just hope next time he overtakes SV, although I doubt they will give him a car fast enough to do that now

Why risk everything when the team was in for 2nd and 3rd by letting the two collide as in any case as Lewis showed, there was pretty much no chance to overtake on the last half of the circuit anyway. I think it was sensible for the team to tell mark to keep the distance

I think a better example is from last year when vettel and Webber did collide.

why not? redbull and SV can fail to finish in the next 4 races and still be in the lead, whats the difference in fighting the last 4 laps then fighting the first 4? if anything its easier to fight the last 4 especially if one of the drivers has looked after his tyres or they are newer

Because they were sure to get the points from the manufacturers perspective rather than chuck some away if one didnt finish. In the start of the race its totally different.

If they really wanted to keep Webber on side they could have let him pass. They would still have 2nd & 3rd for the constructors and Vettel would still be miles ahead for the championship.

If there is anything in the rumours of Hamilton leaving McLaren perhaps he could swap with Webber.

Not till 2013 apparently Hamilton will be with McLaren in 2012 and why would they pxxs off Vettel by letting Mark pass when he is cleary their favoured driver?

which I would 100% agree with, if redbull where not so far ahead in both championships, they can easily afford to let there drivers race, or just openly admit that webber is a no2 driver and be done with it.

It would have helped to keep him on side for when it really matters. Swapping positions would have had no real effect on the championship. They could easily have put Vettel into engine saving mode etc.

It would also have helped Red Bull to maintain their 'we don't have team orders' position

I think that's another possibility. But I think Schumi is finding his groove and nico has been pretty ok this year with the car that he's been given.

Schumi got some points despite needing to go in for a new front wing. Plus I don't want Schumi to retire without at least getting another podium.

I think Mercedes want to keep an all German line up. Plus McLaren are a lot more competitive than Mercedes, Di Resta would be an idiot to not want to go there.

Good question regarding Ferrari. I don't see button going there...but maybe Webber could go there for a season.
