There will be a report outside the hospital at 3.30pm GMT.

Was he late for the start? It seems odd that he would need to be driving like that before the race. Perhaps it was just a racing drivers natural tendancy to get the maximum out of the car at all times.
Fortunately, he does seem to be made of tough stuff. He bounced back from his major F1 crash very quickly.

surgery to finish around 20:00... they are working to save his use of right hand...i think even if it all works out his hand will never be 100% and his racing days are over |

A quote from Dr. Rossello:
The situation of the hand was clearly serious, it was nearly amputated and we’ve reconstructed completely, first recomponing the fracture and then working on muscles and nervous tissue. The operation has been successful, i don’t want to say too much but we’re quite confident. Kubica should get back the total functionality of the hand for his vital functions and maybe his driving profession. However, it will need some time, perhaps a whole year of rehabilitation. By the way, everything’s been good.”

Doesn't look like he will be back this year but you never know..
[Dr Rossello told reporters he was "moderately satisfied" with the operation to rebuild the hand, but said that it would be several days before doctors could determine whether the hand would be "able to return to full function".
He added: "The danger is, in five-seven days you can have vascular problems, and we could do surgery again to solve these problems."
When asked what the best prognosis for recovery would be, Rossello replied: "One year. One year is the best provision."]

Can't see him ever coming back to be honest, a year out is a lifetime in F1 let alone trying to recover from such serious injuries.
What the hell was renault thinking allowing him to rally in the first place???
Looking a ahead the prospect of seeing senna in a black and gold Lotus is pretty special, fingers crossed.

It does make you wonder, how/why these guys should be competing in non-F1 races. However accidents happen, like Mark webber cycling one's...
Sounds like Bruno Senna will kick the season off till they can find a suitable replacement. However I thought there were still a couple of other drivers looking for a seat (Nico Rosberg for instance).
Would be a shame to Renault to produce a great car, only to not have one of the best drivers piloting it.

I wonder if this will change: | Quote: | | | | Lotus Renault GP has announced Fairuz Fauzy as its reserve driver for the F1 2011 season.
The Malaysian, who somewhat confusing was with the other Lotus team last year ran by Tony Fernandes, will combine his duties with Lotus Renault GP by competing again in the GP2 series, F1's main feeder category, with Super Nova Racing. His car will carry 'significant branding' from Malaysian car manufacturer and Lotus Cars stakeholder, Proton | | | | | crash.net
Comment on why he was rallying: | Quote: | | | | Lotus Renault GP team bosses have admitted that they had no problem with star driver Robert Kubica indulging his passion for rallying, despite the serious accident that looks likely to sideline the Pole for the entire 2011 season.
Kubica had to be airlifted to hospital on Sunday morning after his Skoda Fabia RS collided with a church wall not far from the start of the Ronda di Andora Rally in Italy, and was diagnosed with multiple fractures to his right arm and leg. More seriously, however, doctors admitted that severe cuts to his right forearm threatened the mobility of his hand and, had it not been for a seven-hour spell in surgery, his motorsport career.
While initial reports from the hospital are positive, Kubica has been placed in an induced coma following the surgery, and looks almost certain to be watching the forthcoming F1 campaign from the sidelines as he recovers. Despite that, and his having set the fastest time of the season-opening group test in Valencia, team bosses insist that had no problem with the Pole going rallying.
"We let him do it because rallying is in his heart," team principal Eric Boullier told Italian news agency ANSA, "Rally driving is vital for Robert and his state of mind - we know the risks and so does he. We don't want a robot or corporate driver." | | | | | crash.net |

I just heard on the news that Robert Kubica has regained conciousness today. Doctors confirmed that it is likely to take a year for him to recover fully.

I'm really excited by the prospect of Senna having a good car to show what he's worth and I really hope he comes through.
A dream season would be Senna and schumi fighting it out until the end |

Robert will be back... Senna is not even close to be the quality driver which Kubica is... put him in a capable car and he would run circles around the top 3... as Flavio said today... Robert will race within 5 months! |

The hand is warm- blood is circulating, they still have to put plates in his arm and leg. His Renault boss says that he will be back in a couple of months.

So, Nick Heildfeld has been given a chance to prove himself over the next few days of testing in Jerez for Renault. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/moto...ne/9392434.stm
Good choice.

Ford are suing Ferrari for using the F-150 name.
Really?? You'd think Ford would be happy to be linked in any way to a Ferrari. http://www.planetf1.com/driver/18227...over-F150-name |
