Just hit the "ESC" key and the avatars will be quiet (at least in Firefox)
Thanks for the tip, didn't know about that little trick.

Just did a test and this only seems to work in browsers based on Mozilla (Firefox, Camino, Seamonkey). None of the webkit based browsers (Safari, Chrome) do this, nor does Opera.

Can't comment on Malware Explorer though.

When the Safari stopper is determined, I'd love to know!

Mine doesn't blink or move, but I'm still quite proud of it.

Some people get annoyed by flashing avatars, others by boozing people on the train. Accept what you can't change.

Actually my personal favorite avatar on this forum is a moving one. Love it!
That one IS super cute. I think maybe I'll change mine to my teddy monster after all... maybe, no? yes? no? argh!

Re: Flashing, blinking and manic avatars

I like the ones that are animated - it's the flashing ones that make me tired. So I just move on to the next post so I don't have to look at blinking mania.

I agree, an excellent avatar but you hardly notice it moving and it does not distract you from reading.

Re: Flashing, blinking and manic avatars

We should got back to the thread asking everyone to put their real picture as an avatar... that was so long ago, eh? Oh, the memories...

I remember when I first joined someone had a picture of a strange guy with a bandana on his head. I thought it was his real picture until someone told me it was a strange B celeb from the Bourbine region.

Only very few of you folks ever noticed that one of the former pictures of my humble self was animated:

I think this cannot be called flashing or manic. Blinking? Ok, maybe a little bit.

Re: Flashing, blinking and manic avatars

Aren't flashing and blinking avatars heralding arrival of festive season? Afterwards they can effectively be banned

I'd prefer when people would choose an avatar and stick with it.
Avatars are meant to be changed periodically, that is what an avatar means really. My fav are Sada's
