Thanks to the mods. and staff who sorted this promptly, and to those who have removed their groans on the advert.

Fingers crossed this works out smoothly and doesn't over-dominate the forum.

Perhaps, when the next change is planned, staff will consult in advance and keep us informed to avoid these situations

If paid ads had appeared under the new user "EF Advertising" there'd be some fuss.

Put them under a "English Forum Switzerland" then change it to "EF Advertising" and we're all happy.

I doubt if that is how it was planned but it is a quite common technique. It's a bit like submitting an outrageous planning application and then replacing it with something that is only slightly 'over the top'

you do have to wonder if that is just a little subterfuge by admins and such for and when potential advertisers ask

"what is this groan thing about ? "

"oh... pay no attention... look.. this name has been groaned x-million of times"

You'd think someone would proof read these before posting on behalf of a client. Obviously expats will jump on this.

Due to the existing Basel in international corporations, I also look aftersome of those employee.

Due to my links with international corporations in Basel, I also look after the learning requirements of their employees.

Not that the last one really makes sense.

The guy isn't advertising his English skills, just his ability to teach driving skills in understandable English. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It would be the advertiser's responsibility to correct. I agree, it doesn't read very well though.
