Re: Single Issue Posters

I would do nothing. These sorts of posters are simply not worth getting worked up about or expending precious time and energy on. Hopefully, at some point, they will start posting something worthwhile and contribute positively to the EF but I certainly won't be losing any sleep if they don't.

Re: Single Issue Posters

As a keen gardener I come across this problem a lot. You know - those weeds that keep popping up in an otherwise orderly garden. Take it from me, these uninvited invaders need to be dealt with ruthlessly otherwise they quickly get out of control and before you know it they've crowded out the garden's flowers and your orderly garden starts looking unsightly and unkempt.

I think forum management is a lot like gardening so perhaps I may share the benefit of my experience with the mods. The golden rule is, however much you try, no garden will ever be weed free. So you have to keep on top of the problem:
1. Simply pouring boiling water over weeds can get rid of a lot of them. Scalding is an inexpensive and non toxic option.
2. For stubborn weeds that will not go away, stronger measures are called for. I'm not a fan of chemicals but when applied with care, poisoning can be very effective.
3. Though it may sound OTT sometimes nothing works better than a propane blowtorch. It's kind of satisfying watching weeds burn to a crisp

Take it from me, a forum is like a garden. It needs care and attention to keep it looking spic and span.

Some people integrate faster than the others. Give them some time. You can easily distinguish between movers and shakers. If that fails throw them to the lions

Not sure all of those are new posters. I believe some may be regulars who happen to be going through some kind of difficulty and need advice or maybe just a hug ? so for a short space of time they adopt a pen name ?
kinda nice to think they're around

Too tired to attempt a sensible(ish) response right now and don't want to be possibly labelled as tonight's (okay, this early AM's) drunk poster if I do.
Were you drunk when you posted that?

I'll be the first to buy you a drink.
And if I can't find a cheap place to stay (<$300/month seems reasonable) can I stay in your wine ce... bunker ... that the government forced you at gunpoint to build in 1972? Do you keep your brown sugar in there? How close do you live to a fast food joint, preferably KFC? And if I get a job offer as a waiter, should I hold out for 120K? Is that enough to live on?

Am I the only one who realised that DB is the Single Issue Poster of this thread?

Well, the ONLY thing I have found to work 100% of the time is to smother them with black plastic!

Ooops, were you talking about weeds, or socialists?

Anyway, the smothering idea works in either case!

Even more frustrating are the people who start threads and then don't contribute further. This is especially frustrating if they asked a question at the start.

At the very least, I would hope to see an acknowledgement of the input by others.
Thank you all for your responses.
