Just for the record, why does anyone need to PM?
I hardly ever write more than one or two PMs a week.

More specifically why does a new member need to PM?
To ask about something they want to buy in the Market Place?
To ask a complete stranger to give them personal help or information?
What other reasons?
to have a private chat? (definitely not with a newbie though)

I vote for a 50% reduction.
plus no complaining for the first 10'000 posts.
We're gonna start to love newbies, they're gonna be the most cheerful members here.

The longer this thread the more protected I feel by the mods and the system. As I'm still absolutely not keen on being approached privately by newbies. And NO, OP, do not enlighten me why that should please me.

I don't think OP will be responding to you. He hasn't logged on since 2013. He did stick around and accumulate 97 posts before leaving, which is more than we can say for some of the other newbies that complain about the rules and never contribute anything.

I hit 10 posts but still cannot send more than 4 PMs. Did the rules change?

No. You also have to have been an EF member for a week - which you haven't yet. Should be fine tomorrow.

It's the middle of August, love. Shall we have another EF community project to build you a calendar

You might have to wait a short while after your tenth post for the system to update its wotsits. Logging off and back on again sometimes speeds this up.

The EF server is e x t r e m e l y slow since two days. Has anyone else noticed that?
(Hope it's okay that I didn't start a new thread for that).

Re: 4 messages in 1440 mins

Could we have another limit added to this one?
Please limit 'newbie' posts in a single thread to 4 in 1440 minutes.
To curb this effort from a guy with more time than common sense.
Thank you.

But then discussions could not develop properly if that were to be implemented.

You're not discussing. You're derailing threads, commenting about non-issues.

You always want to have "Das letzte Wort", as useless for the discussion your comment might be.

Thank you.
We used to have quotas to slow people down. But then people didn't like them, so we got rid. Now we occasionally we get 13% from an individual. Hopefully they'll get bored soon. Or better still, a mod will (I've not read their posts yet)

Re: 4 messages in 1440 mins

No matter. I wasn't all too serious about it but a bit frustrated at the way the thread went.
However, I collected a bunch of groans on what were, to me, quite reasonable replies, so in the end I was amused which helped the frustration to abate!
Thanks for the reply anyway.

If it's any consolation, they'll need ten more posts before they can post again (I think)
