I think there is quite a bit of bad blood on this forum, some members who have long-term issues with each other. Why not use this thread to say what you have to then the rest of us will no longer have to put up with all this silliness?

After all, it is only an internet forum.
Just had to get the bunny image in just for Adrian:

I much prefer economisto and Kittster as members as they both add value.

Can you guys hug and make up?

This sort of crap going on really reflects badly on both sides to anyone venturing into the forum. And it wastes space.

Fine. I have no problem with Kittster or anyone else. I also have no problem with threats, legal or otherwise, so long as they're directed at me and not the forum.

Re: A question for those who would report the EF to "the authorities"

Yes, not pleasant to read somebody HATES your country and all its people with a vengeance and is so unhappy here. Nobody would relish people feeling like that about their country or kin. But this is a Forum, and this is how they feel, so what. I might respond and say 'hold on a mo' we are not all like that' or 'how about these nice aspects'? I might agree, disagree, partly agree - decide to argue the toss, or that I can't be 'asked' and then so what? I might even think some of those very unhappy and grumpy people might have personal issues, which might well rear their ugly head wherever they go, and that those have in fact little to do with CH. I might choose not to mention this, or not.

But calling the fuzz - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Anyway, I like Yorkshire - always felt very comfortable there as it is so similar to 'my' Jura. xx

I just don't get why people get so bent out of shape over things that are written in a public forum. Granted, if someone were to post personal, derogatory, slanderous or insulting comments about me then I may well get annoyed.

But to be fair, the comments would probably be true.

I also don't understand the Swiss' obsession with authorities. It's like in kindergarten when you'd run to your mommies to tell on someone "Herr polizei, herr polizei, the EF said this to me today, do something...."
Then you don't understand Switzerland and its inhabitants.

It is a very independent democracy based on respect for and compliance with authority. There is no king, the President is a ceremonial position. Without this respect for authority, the Swiss consensus could easily dissolve into anarchy. The authority manifests itself in the public domain as "the police".

I use inverted commas as this is not totally what the British, at least, understand by the police. Here for example there the 'foreign police' are the authority controlling the admission of foreigner into the country for example. We would be unlikely to use the word 'police' for this organisation...

The thing is that the word "hate" is bandied about so flippantly now in the English language. I think the meaning is being taken too strongly in the context of the post in question. In the heat of the moment when something or someone has really annoyed me I very quickly say I "hate" something when in actual fact I probably mean more like something has really gotten on my t*ts and I need to vent.

If however if I truly "hate" something/someone in the real sense of the word then I disassociate myself with that place or person and don't waste my energy in discussing it. It's counterproductive and only makes the feelings intensify. If I really HATED Switzerland (which for the record I have never claimed to) then I would leave in the blink of an eye. Clearly by posting on EF the OP wanted to vent and, thanks to that thread, feels much better and will hopefully get through this difficult period and come out the other side into the warm sunshine and blooms of edelweiss in the Switzerland we all know and love.

Re: A question for those who would report the EF to "the authorities"

EF is or many people the only place they can get answers to the questions all new foreigners to CH have. I know for me it was an absolute lifeline. We had sooo many questions about the life here, permits, driving etc etc etc....

For a few people with "issues" to undermine the good this forum has done for new comers to CH would be very sad.

I.M.H.O, removing the few would benefit the many. The question remains who decide who the "few" are.

DB, really, you expect CHexo and Kittster to come on here and actually set themselves up? C'mon you're not that naive are you?

CHexo - meh.

Kittster - I agree with Natasha re her contributions to EF, and feel that her post was/is out of character. She has relatively thick skin, but I guess she doesn't like Economisto (for whatever reason) and that meant the thread (and his "attitude") got to her.

I'm from a king/queenless democratic republic too but we hate calling the" police" to sort stuff out... It's seen like "I'll tell me ma..."
Not cool. Cultural differences yet again, rather than the end of world.

Mind you wouldn't under-estimate the power of cultural differences to end the world either.

I agree with Natasha, Kittster has and plays an important role in the English Forum and if she has been pushed it is for a reason. I too am fed-up with the anti-Swiss sentiment and we "Brits are fab and are the only ones that have a sense of humor".

Nicola- chill chica, you haven't been back long but you already proving to be just as irritating as before your vacation.

Economisto- please step back and think an additional 10 seconds before you wield your mod rod. I know you are a good guy and will do this.

"Free Beer" did have it's purpose, geez I miss it.

Oh for god's sakes not again. I know it's coming up to a big full moon and all that, but haven't we had enough of this already?

I'm in regular contact with couple of well respected, contributing members of this forum, who have been notable lately only by there absence. The reason is they can't be arsed with the EF because of crap like this.

Oh, and as for you DB, you should know better than to light the blue touch paper, do a runner, and then sit back at a distance chuckling to yourself as you watch the devastation unfold. Most disappointing.

I leave this Forum for a few days and things start to fall apart.

Seems like some of us need a "Villain" or a "Bad guy" to bash and red rep, and if there's none available, we go Bonkers trying to do each other!

Having said that I would still not like to read "I HATE the country" , its a bit harsh! specially from "foreigners" even if it is just the virtual internet forum.
I'll agree that it does seem harsh, but taken in context of the OP's state of mind, it's a personal thing.

What difference does it make where the people are from? I always find it amusing that some people seem to think that foreigners are not allowed to voice their thoughts on a country/law/food etc. Would it have been ok if the OP was Swiss?

AND...There is no reason to read a thread that you don't like the heading of.

I think this supermoon I've been reading about is causing problems here!

Re: A question for those who would report the EF to "the authorities"

For me, it's just funny - the Swiss, like everyone else, are nuts. It's not meant to be offensive, and I don't think the Brits are any better, if I was living there I'd be complaining about them. I moan about the Swiss, not because they're any worse than anyone else but because they happen to be right in front of me, so the material comes easy.

With all due respect, I know quite a few people who have complained about you being simply aggressive. Especially newbies and uh-oh non-Brits.
Truthfully I was a little surprised that you were chosen as mod just because of this, on the other hand you have also contribute many good things to the forum as well.
Guess there are just a lot of people who don't get you - and it's good to be aware of that.
