What is Acceptable

Everyday on the forum when someone mentions a job they have or might be accepting they get slagged off told its rubbish, a case today when someone said nurses are bad.

So what do you people actually see as an acceptable job?

Nobody said any such thing.

You misinterpreted a post where somebody was actually saying the complete opposite, and now you want to create a stink in a new thread.

Have you ever contributed anything of value to the forum, Swans? Ever?

I believe that comment you were referring to, was made tongue in cheek.

Anything else needs explaining?

Could it have have been misunderstood if English is not one's mother tongue?

Here's the quote. Make your own mind up:

...I know it is Economisto, but really even he wouldn't be that dumb to believe what he wrote... <ducks for cover>

Re: What is Acceptable

Anyone having a job is respectable*. Most people without jobs are respectable. Respect has nothing to do with what you do for a living. It's how you do it.

* Politicians and people trained to kill excluded.

Swans is was not a dig at you it was a sarcastic post to have a go at the bankers. I doubt he thinks you're profession is worthless anything but.

You didn't "just" ask that at all. You added a load of other stuff which wasn't actually true.

Stink-seeking, that is.

Of course you are, but if it is a genuine misunderstanding (on your part), why don't you remove your groan and delete your little rant from the thread in question.

The fact that you haven't suggests that you haven't understood the nature of Economisto's post...

The fact that you've used this example (unless there's another one) reinforces the suggestion that you (still) haven't understood the nature of his post.

HTH

It's a public forum populated by people who have the whole spectrum of opinions, some of which you will agree with some of which you will think are downright weird.

There is a LOT of teasing and ribbing on the forum, along with some (not much) nasty name-calling. You just need to work out which is which and ignore both lots as you see fit.

There is no such thing as an "acceptable job" to the collective forum, just an "acceptable job" to you in your own opinion.

Swans groaned Economisto and made a snarky response based on his misunderstanding of the point.

Now he wants to start a thread about it.

I could use the example of the young man who wanted to advice on the job in Basel as a Financial Coordinator he was just put off it.

To be fair, he's not abusing those rules - he's "speaking out at a Mod" now... gone up in the world, don't you know...
