How do I quote a website?

In my quest to be a helpful little EFer I have quoted websites when trying to answer questions. But when I use the standard code for quoting how do I format it properly so that when I click on the website in the top right of the quote, I'm directed to that website, not the EF user page. I know there is a sticky that covers quoting, Policy: Copying content, copy/paste, quoting, linking, etc., but here is the same problem I talk about, no offence intended mark . If it is possible then could someone please add it to the sticky, as I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Example:

Quote:
Zurich (German: Zürich, Swiss German: Züri) is the largest city in Switzerland and the capital of the canton of Zurich.
If you click on the webpage, you're taken to http://www.englishforum.ch/member.ph...rg/wiki/Zurich not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zurich

Thanks and sorry if this has been answered before.

Re: How do I quote a website?

Select the phrase / words, then click on the globe icon and enter the precise URL, preview, test, and then only submit.

I hope this is what you needed.

Re: How do I quote a website?

Thanks, but that's not really what I meant. I want to use the standard quoting format, but quote a website not an EF member. I know there are other ways, like the one you suggested, but I think the quote format is quite. One reason for this is that it separates the quote from the rest of the post, making it obvious who said what. I want to click on the thing in the red circle and be taken to the website, not an EF member with that name.

Re: How do I quote a website?

Copy the text you wish to quote then just click on the following icon and paste your text inside of it.

You can also edit it to show whatever name you want, example:

[ QUOTE = website name ]

Re: How do I quote a website?

I believe the vBulletin code will only parse a link at the top left as a username link and not a URL. You can link to a site within the body of a thread, but within the quote tag you can only link to a userid.

Re: How do I quote a website?

I know how to use the quote function. What I would like is to be able to do something like this [QUOTE=websiteiwanttoquote.com]. Is there any code I can put in front of the website, to be taken to the actual website, rather than a member page?

I just tried that, vwild1, but unlike you I then tested it, and deleted it when it was obvious it wasn't working

Problem is the quote thinks its the name of a member and looks for the nonexistant member when one clicks on the name.

I think the quote can be linked to a website but I'm on my iPad and the lack of a real keyboard is testing my patience..

Re: How do I quote a website?

It's possible.

You need to disect the source, of a page with a quote on it , and reuse the HTML images , embedding in your URL. You need to do this using the HTML code tag.

It's a lot of work. I am off to play some EF pool.

Ok, after looking a little closer I see that whatever is displayed for a name in the quote box (upper right hand corner of quote) the BB code automatically adds it to the following address:
