| | Close the thread, we're getting rumbled dear.
So, a Maths PHD gets a lesson in ambiguity, contradicting standards and the order of operations. An (English?) teacher is shown a blindingly obvious grammatical error in their post, one so basic it had me in fits... Yet they rush to their perch, calling me a troll, resting on their PHD and vocational position to denounce any proof.
Running around closing threads , ganging up and name calling. This is what a Moderator and the Forums most prolific poster have become.
For the record.
DB, you were grammatically wrong. A link was posted by Phil justifying my criticism of your grammar. I challenge you to prove otherwise.
Mathnut, you were also way out of line, running around behind me closing the posts that contradicted your holy PhD teachings. I proved , had you followed the links properly, beyond a doubt that two or more standards exist for the order of operations. I challenge you to prove there is only one, and remove the doubt in this matter, which is , in essence, the crux of the issue in that thread. You cannot, therefore will not.
So some kind of weird mutated nepotism at hand here where a teaching partner of a Mod comes crashing into a post about mathematics, rambling on about apples laying a more than obvious trap not related to the thread at all, having then got criticised, runs to his better half to close the thread.
The pair of you should honour up and separate your domestic loyalties from your forum responsibilities. A shred of fair play would have you re-open the grammar poll and thread and let it run, as it was a valid question and debate on the Englishforum. Deleting threads to protect your partner, albeit somewhat twee and expected, is not in the interests of good debate or the interests of the forum members you serve.
As for your behaviour yesterday, it was nothing less than insulting and dishonest to anyone with integrity.
As DB keeps preaching... It's just a forum.
I expect a ban for this, it's your last resort in keeping me from telling the truth, telling it like it is and daring to criticise the pair of you with facts.

CTRL + F4, power down, find house keys, open house door, enter world where we are all more or less equal and there is free speech. I can really recommend it. The mods are just human and the new mod crew is more human than previous ones, not being above being downright insulting to forum members or resorting to the "you silly little person, you can't possibly understand" retort. It's how it is. I loooove the ignore function but find it terribly unfair that you can't ignore mods.

This should be settled in the traditional way. Handbags at fifty paces.

I thought so , another insulting accusation from you, baseless in fact. You refuse to prove it. OK. I feel more justified in my criticisms now.
(That thread leads to links which prove my claims and criticise your beloved's.
Thanks..Oh hang on, MN closed it didn't she ?)

I strongly resent the accusation that I would abuse mod power for personal reasons.

| | | | | Indeed. I would, obviously, but don't think I've had the opportunity. You've always been seen to be especially careful about firewalling your mod responsibilities.

However, your Husband has libeled me in a public forum, I ask that you delete his scandalous outrageous untrue post above calling me a liar before the matter gets out of hand.

But it should have been closed. Right or wrong, neither side was getting anywhere with their arguments. Moreover there weren't any fresh arguments either. I know it's frustrating but you shouldn't see it as an insult or attack on you. You had plenty opportunity to express your points of which you availed yourself.
Phil's "supportive thread" was utter tosh and I would have deleted it had I seen it first.
