Noted too, but as you saw, there was a couple of contributions that were noteworthy,

In my opinion, Slaphead's comments are accurate and very relevant -- and hardly a tirade. For good examples of a tirade, have a look at some of the obnoxious posts made by some of the long-time forum regulars to whom Slaphead refers.
so... velociraptors are real and exist on this forum? joking aside, those comment looked more like a dig at people that were giving insight as to the lacking and possible improvements of the help function rather than some acknowledgment as to the things said. If that wasn't the case, i apologize, but that is how it appears to me.

now if you'll excuse me I got to fill the other 3 hours at my work desk doing bugger all other than looking for those damn dishwasher tablets that mirfield talked about. (so yes, I concede to Mirfield on that one.. )

It used to be the case that newbies would come and have their questions answered. Those newbies would then become regulars, and then answer the newbies questions - with pleasure. It would seem these days that there are very few new regulars. I suspect the forum veloceraptors have each had their piece of flesh, and there's not much left to answer questions anymore.
I think this has improved from, say, a year ago. Longbyt and jrspet in particular seem to go out of their way to politely guide new users with a FAQ in the right direction before the hyenas strike.

Any user, on the other hand, is welcome to write to the Administrator with helpful suggestions.
I had thought that the mod team would be the ones to direct these kind of comments to the administrator, no? Or, simply to send them a link to this thread? Certainly all the boards I ever modded / adminned, that was the case

Re: That question that has been asked a X times before..

We do pass on good ideas, quite often. But with a membership as large and a moderator team as small as EF's, and with a lot of, well, moderation to do, we're bound to miss a lot of helpful suggestions. Also, EF is a bit of a special "board" -- it is a genuine community, and it was founded on the principle of those with knowledge and experience helping those without. The best way to help develop the forum is to propose constructive suggestions, either via PM/email directly to the administrator, Editor Bob, or to a moderator (who will pass it on to Editor Bob), or by starting a thread in Forum Support where the idea can be debated and refined -- and where it will definitely catch the eye of the moderators, as we like to ensure that questions relating to the forum are answered.

I just can't guarantee that proposals buried in other threads will make their way to the Administrator, that's all.

That said -- I have passed the tag cloud suggestion on to Editor Bob for his consideration.

The tag cloud is already there. It doesn't seem particularly helpful.

I get all that - but without wanting to flog a dead horse on this one, this is a thread in Forum Support...
