I believe they have such a directory at Toytown, all paid for entries. I wonder how long it will be before all commercial posts have to be paid for.

I rather look forward to all the surprises on the new, improved EF. An announcement would spoil the sense of discovery when we stumble upon something unexpected on the menu bar.

Nothing ever really changes, anyway. The boards are still filled with drivel and flaming, whatever is going on on the commercial side...

Wow, the business directory looks cool! What would be good though is mention of (and the existence of) the exclusive discounts available for EF members.

Of course there's a connection: I'd be the first to admit that most of what I contribute is nonsense.

But the boards is the boards and the commercial side is the commercial side, and never the twain shall meet - I hope.

As Mr Grapefruit has observed, though, it would be a worrying development if the commercial section on the boards became fee-paying only.

(BTW, I shall be contributing a little less nonsense over the next few months, thanks to a new secret weapon which has also been unobtrusively slipped into the forum... The EF is always full of surprises .)

I can't see that, in reality, it can be any other way. Why would someone pay to advertise their strawberry polishing company when they can advertise it for free? After all, this is a commercial forum and we're talking about commercial adverts - the businesses are in it for the profit, the forum's in it for the profit, and bit of profit transferred for a bit of business doesn't seem too horrific.
