Complaint about The Local news articles posted into EF

I must admit that actually find threads started by our newbie "The Local" popping up on the thread boards (New Posts) to be a complete anathema and counter to my understanding of why EF was set up.

We all have our news sources, and these are sent to us through countless channels, so we all know Steve has "left" Apple.

But to have a news service specifically post impersonal - and stupid - news stories on what is meant to be an interative community is wrong on so many levels, that I would specifically request that this be de-activated.

There's already been some disgruntlement about how invasive The Local is, and this too, I believe, is a step too far. We don't need "newswires" posting on here.

If The Local is a genuine member, then I withdraw my complaint, but really, you should re-consider your posting contributions/strategy...

Re: Complaint to the "Powers That Be": The Local

I know what you mean, but at least they're in their own forum and you can ignore it.

Re: Complaint to the "Powers That Be": The Local

See this thread in Forum Support for more details The Local's news articles in the forum

These have only been around for a few days but only six of the 53 have been responded to. Two of those were due to the stupid headlines 'Crazy Cows' and 'Sex Box'. The only others with several replies relate to the Swiss economy.

They do seem to be pointless in general. If they are to continue, I hope that 'The Local' will be much more selective with the articles they use. It should be easy to see what interests members. A fair amount of the content from members is reproduced from other news sources so there seems to be little value in The Local repeating this. Let members decide on what they wish to discuss.

If there is some genuine news that is unlikely to be picked up on elsewhere then certainly let us know.

Re: Complaint to the "Powers That Be": The Local

Theodore Herbert Ernest Local, a journalist from Albany, New York joined this forum a while ago with the altruistic intention of spreading relevant, though admittedly poorly written, news to the English Forum membership. Because of this thread and the general nonchalance with which his efforts have been received, he's sunk into a deep depression. I hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Bastards.

I suggest The Local be banned for "wasting moderator resources"

How many people would it take to get The Local's rep. status to 'Tweener'?

Re: Complaint about The Local news articles posted into EF

Not only is 'The Local' posting articles that very few people are interested in, but it is also starting new threads to update the previous ones, just 2 hours later
