No, it takes the fun out.

I just believe that some avatars should be left aside, just in respect for some members of the forum. Not much for myself, depending of what, obviously, but in general.

We have people from all kind of culture, religions, and background. A little respect for our fellow EFers goes a lond way.

Why not share? I think it would help us contextualise your point....

Also - if many other people find it offensive, they may join in when somebody of your rep and gravitas raises it

Not likely. We only want rules which the EF members have to adhere to. We Mods make most of them up as we go along and change them every three days to keep everyone on the hop. Ah, that reminds me, time for the next change in Avatar acceptance... off I go.

No, my personal opinion and the answers about an avatar will just contribute to bring the whole thread off-topic.

But if you need an exemple: I once put an avatar from Benetton showing a black woman horlding a white baby in a breastfeeding position and it was removed.

nah, we just changed the rules again. All are equal and some are more equal than others. Moving avatars can be quite funny I suppose. I don't know anyone who has a custom title though - SEARCH here I come.

I don't mind the titles or special rules, what I sort of have a problem with is not stepping up to say that there are, and go around the issues on the thread, instead of answering straight on.

OK....fair enough, maybe I'm missing the point. I just think if you find something offensive, either report it as offensive and get the "official" view, or share with us to get an opinion about whether many others do....

Ok serious answer from one Mod.
If a Mod saw an Avatar that is obviously very offensive, maybe he/she would take it out. Can't remember it ever happening though. As far as I can remember, it is either a member who sees one and complains or a Mod who sees it and asks the others. We have a look, if the consensus is that it is disagreeable, we ask the Member to change it.

Mind you, I have a lousy memory and it doesn't happen very often, so maybe I've got it all wrong anyway.

I don't think 'rules' will help. I dislike any form of swearing but there is no way I can get that enforced as people's idea as to what constitutes 'swearing' varies too.
