israel-palestine thread closed

can we have an explanation why the thread was closed?

Does it mean that the topic is tabu from now on and no other threads with related topic should be started?

Thank you.

What more can you all add on the topic? What's new to say? It is the same debate over and over and over and over and over and over again!

I second this, Israelis will keep bombing Palestinians, Palestinians will keep attacking Israelis, more kids and families will die, no Palestine and only Israel will exist while the world is acting blind, deaf and mute and the UN releasing useless reports that doesn't make any sense of reality.....the only development that would happen is the holy war and once it's on, we won't even have time to post about it on EF

Hi,

Discussion of international affairs is welcome. Going around and around and around the garden like a teddy bear isn't. If there's nothing beyond mere "Us -vs- Them" tit for tat responses and challenges which then goes on for 92 pages and delivers very little of value to the Forum rather than, say, informed opinion and insightful commentary and perhaps a view to the future, then um, yeah, much like the minaret 'discussion' it'll be under close scrutiny.

Darned if I'm going to take the time to write this answer for Movwich and not get it posted
Quote:
On the day in 2011 that the UN panel publishes its report:
  • Hoppy starts a thread with the title: "UN condemns Israeli illegal act and brutality"
  • The claim is: "the UN has published what most of us already knew."
  • The link given is: to a newspaper article almost a year ano in 2010.
  • The "quotes" given from the report include "including international humanitarian and human rights law", "unlawful", "disproportionate" and "betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality".
  • The only "quote" that actually appears in the report is: "disproportionate".
  • The panel submitting the report did not describe any Israeli action as "disproportionate". What they actually said was
  • "the Panel is not persuaded that the naval blockade was a disproportionate measure for Israel to have taken in response..."
  • "So it seems unrealistic to hold the naval blockade disproportionate..."
  • "we are unable to conclude that the combined effects of the naval blockade and the crossings policy rendered the naval blockade disproportionate
  • "whether it had a disproportionate impact on civilians in Gaza"
A triumph, even in Hoppy terms

seeing it keeps ceratin poster busy and prevents them from interfering in other threads, actually think its a good thread to have from a therapeutic point of view.

Flogging a dead horse should be restricted to the homeopathy thread.

Isn't it also homoeopathy to administer homeopathic quantities of justice to the Palestinians? The less they get, the better it works.

Whatever EF members say this is the situation after kicking the Israeli diplomats out.

Who is Israel's friend in the region now? The Red Sea might really turn red.

This is not the new Israeli - Palestine thread. This is about the closure of that thread.

Respectfully.

OK so Uncle Max (who has written about his role in the Israeli Military) decides to close the thread. I open another thread he closes that, it now seems as if he has decided that there will be no discussion about Israel-Palestine on this forum, is that it? A a Swiss I find it disturbing that he should have such power, or (as we have many ex-Israeli military on the forum) is this in effect the pro-Israeli forum, is that why the threads are closed? Or will he ban me again for too much cut and paste?

Did you know that cut and paste is an Israeli invention, first tested by the Israeli military?

Thank you.
Could it be because of the use of cartoons representing Israelis?
Could it be because of the use of cartoons representing Palestinians?
...

It could be shocking and offend a few!

You welcome!
