Visitor Messages

How does one turn on Visitor Messages in his/her profile?

E.g. if I look at my green/red blobs and I click the name of the person who gave it to me, sometimes I can leave a "thank you note" if they have a place for Visitor Messages.

Some people (including me) don't have this. How does that get turned on? I can't find an option for it.

Thanks.

Click "Control panel"

Click "Edit Options"

Edit: One of the boxes listed is "Messaging & Notification"

One of the options in that box should be "Visitor Messaging"
(Which reminds me, I owe you some info, sorry!)

Re: Visitor Messages

I know it doesn't answer your question, but why not send a private message?

(I'm not actually sure what visitor messages are for....why would you send a public message to somebody like that?)

Visitor messages, introduced relatively recently in vBulletin, are part of what I call the "Facebookization" of most social software, including forum software. Since I am not a Facebook type of person I immediately turned them off
