The new T&C were rolled out yesterday to our sister site in Germany, ToyTown (to which I'm also a member). Anyway, some of the questions/concerns have also been raised there. Here is the link FYI

Most everyone here is clever enough to have made up handles, to not get too specific about their personal or professional lives, why? 'Cause the Internet is wide-fookin open and everyone has access to everything. That the Local claims licensing rights to what we post here is certainly rather ominous and off-putting, but seriously- whaaever. I would love to see a t-shirt made of my alcohol distiller.

They can have a hi-res photo of my hairy back, fully-paid, non-exclusive, and royalty-free, with a worldwide license to use and distribute through the Services or in media that are partners to THE LOCAL or in any other way they want. I could care less. Actually no, I could NOT care less. What's the big fuss ? That they claim to have a right to reproduce every stupid thing I say in EF ? I thought that you couldn't delete an account?? Everyone who asks is told it can't be done, just stop posting. Maybe the mods are just extra industrious today dealing with sham accounts.

Maybe it wasn't an option before, but it can be done from the new T&C email.

Not sure I get what all the fuss is about, save perhaps the auto-opt-in thing. Someone has to pay the light bill for all this sturm und drang here and I imagine hosting here is far from cheap. Did I miss the part where they attach electrode to our eyeballs or something?

Out of morbid curiosity I'm wondering the same. As you can't search for accounts that aren't there, maybe there could be a thread on that. Doubt that we could convince the mods to do it... remaining members unite! Dig into threads where you are sure to find a suspected EF total flouncer and see if they are there- or not (cue spooky music) and post in an Off Topic thread to armor plate it a bit against deletion.

If several Big Boys (that's girls too) delete their accounts it's going to be funny reading around here.

Since the ideals of Mark are now thoroughly smudged out, it wouldn't take much to make a mass mutiny of key members and mods, make a new forum following the guidelines of The Architect, and be rid of pesky salary questions... foreeever. Mhuhahah.

alright, there is no issue with personal data - you, the member, can delete any post and can change your membership details. Yes, slowly, but.............

the new T&Cs are wank but post with that in mind.

The fuss is that The Local and Editor Bob have proven time and time again that they do not give a sh!t about the members interests here.... EB's famous quote "It is your forum" Yeah. Bollox. All they had to do was give an announcement on the forum letting us know what actually has changed and why and there wouldn't be this (or as much) fuss.
