Once I de-register, I want my backups excluded from the agreement, too.

Can you reword the agreement to make clear that this shall be so?

OK...tried to bite my lip for two days now, but can't any longer

WHY???

What possibly have you written in the past 700 posts and 3 years that you think you possibly could benefit a commercial organisation? What special kind of talent do you think you possess that the guys at the Local will trawl through the 36000 posts per month of shite that we rack up here going back all of the years that its been operating?

Who gives a shiny sh*t what is written in the T&Cs? Just be practical for a moment and realise that every single contract that we sign in life is written by lawyers whose job it is to protect the writer of the contract and that 99% of what is written will never be enacted, challenged or used.

And at what point when you were writing these 700 pieces of priceless and valuable wisdom did you think that casting them into the interweb meant that they were still "yours"? Why are they "your backups"? The minute you post on here, I can copy it, paste it and distribute it everywhere around the world. I can with three clicks of a mouse, find your entire posting history and send it global. Is it illegal? No idea. Is it enforcable? Of course not. Is it preventable? No.

Oh, and by the way, did you notice this clause in the new T&Cs?

When you access said services via a browser, application or other client our servers automatically record certain information. These server logs may include information such as your web request, your interaction with a service, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser or your account.

Thats pretty bad, right? They log what you have been doing and keep it forever

Well....no....you probably didn't notice it, because it isn't from The Local. It's one of the many things you sign up to when you use Google.

Get a grip and get some perspective

Though I cannot control people abusing my images, art I post on the internet is still protected and cannot be used legally without my consent. (when I post it in this site though, if I agree with the T&C, they are allowed to do whatever they want, therefore I understand nic over there wanting to remove them).
Posting a picture - as in an attachment would become EF property - posting a link to a picture (EG LOLCats) wouldn't. I exercise my right of copyright on all my images on my website - and only load images to my site (ie not photobucket and their ilk).

I'm surprised the T&C doesn't include the following:

You are not allowed to groan or negative rep "the local"

Unfortunatelly, as said by Editor Bob:

Quote:
Deleting your account does not delete your archive of posts. Nor is deletion of all posts possible on request. You might be able to, in theory, go through your archive and delete one by one. But as others have suggested, we could easily reinstate them again.
Not even the great powers of Mimi will be able to delete posts... And if THEY want it, the deleted posts will rise from the dead to haunt you... It's like living in a zombie take on 1982!

*big brother is watching you* *big sister is deleting your account while you're not watching*

No. What about Freedom of Speech?!?

Deleting posts goes against your prior assertion of Freedom of Speech. This means deletions are anti-free.

You need to get posting lolcats. Once your rep level is above a certain point (something like 250ish or it might be 125 (oh, I don't remember)) then you can edit your old posts. Otherwise your stuck with them.

If you're going to make millions from my pictures, then I at least want a share.

I'm sure you had your mind on this one when you were writing your "rules".
