| | | | | OR
Eventually it will appear on Google - otherwise WTF would be the point of a forum for English speakers if no-one knew about it?? Or is it a sort of boys club where you shake hands in a funny way while showing your nipple - is that just the masons?

Newsflash:
Sun still rose in the east this morning despite change in T&Cs. Plague of locusts not yet identified clearly on radar, sarcasm still holding its own despite 3'000 years of misunderstanding by foreigners.
Imagine the uproar here if you were all asked to pay CHF 1 per year to stay on EF, you'd spend more time arguing about the other "meaty benefits" that a buck would bring you in the real world.
As for everyone scurrying around trying to bury their true pasts, that's just pretty funny, period. Why the hell would you ever post anything truly personal on a public website? Your average Kindergarten attendee handles internet etiquette better than some of the inmates here.
Pathetic.

Your point of course being what exactly?
Ah, the personal "I know more about you in the real world than you think you know about me angle?"
Do you play a lot of Russian Roulette or are you just feeling incredibly bored?

Why all the user names? What have you got to hide? | Quote: | | | |

| | | | | Not at all. The fact that you (and several other members) are fakers is common knowledge.

Does matter how many usernames somebody has or has had?
The internet is a really dumb place to try and keep secrets on. The only way not to say anything crazy or appear crazy is:
To have never turned on a computer in your life.
To never have gone onto the internet
To never have sold your soul to a forum
To never have posted anything
It is too late for you, me and everyone else. We'll all burn in silicon hell.
Now put down the handbags, kiss and make up

| | Re: How seriously are you considering departing EF permanently? | Quote: | | | | | Does matter how many usernames somebody has or has had? | | | | | In the context of a forum like the EF, yes it does: it is a sign of dishonesty, that the user wishes to pull the wool over the eyes of people with whom he may have disagreed in the past.
I've been on the English Forum for four years now, under the same username. I've had rows with people, received threats of violence, said stupid things - have I changed my username to cover up my past? Of course not: I've taken my chequered history on the chin and got on with it.
It's funny, though, how some fakers get away with it and others don't. I wonder what the magic formula is...?

... and I'm not the one who uses people's real names in his rep comments, either... | | | | | Hiding their pasts with respect to one's forum identity is totally irrelevant and superfluous and not the issue. It's just a game. The T&C situation discussed here is about people removing their real world situations which they now feel could be used against them by ruthless Viking marketeers.
Yeah, I'm a true faker. Nothing can compare to a true EF contributor who prefers to goad from the comfort of an armchair and has all the power and charisma to write letters to strangers rather than having the courage to face true life scenarios. That's not "fake" though of course is it?
Real names in rep? Relevance to argument? Erm, none perhaps?

So - what's with all the usernames?

I know it rutting Stag season in the wild - but I didn't know it spread to the forum!!!
So far I'm scoring it even on points - so the decider:
Who got the girl?
The handsome, debonair educator from glorious Glarus
or
The kooky eyed aviator with naked feet? | Quote: | | | | | From the instant we took on avatars and personas, are we not all "fakes" ? | | | | | I'm not really called Ken - and I'm not really Dodgy

.....hey isn't this all a tad below the belt ? | | | | | Well, it's a lot like showing up at a Hatfield and McCoy family reunion. Best to stay out of the line of gunfire and run like hell when the banjoes start playing. I've always been partial to sockpuppets myself as mostly they're just there to rile up the oldsters and don't want to do so under a more benign identity. It's more amusing than watching folks pick apart US politics....

Nobody else feels the need to do it, except some bloke I met for all of five seconds on my way out of a pub once.
Funny, that.

How is that a bad thing? I've lost count the number of times I've given a false name and/or number to a girl once I've had my fun!!
I don't see forums as any different - sorry guys.
Some people will click - and do the scary thing of meeting in real life - the scary place where you can smell fellow forumers . 1 username or 100 - you'll spot the familiar phrasing of posts and know who they are.
Does impact irregular users who ask questions? No
Does it annoy the few long term addicted contributors? Yes
