No, I do have real friends. That's my point. People who actually know me offline are perfectly free to address me by my real name in rep comments if they like - but they don't.

Some bloke I met once for a few seconds a couple of years ago, on the other hand, does, for reasons I've never quite understood (but always found a bit weird, TBH).

Newsflash:

Sun still rose in the east this morning despite change in T&Cs. Plague of locusts not yet identified clearly on radar, sarcasm still holding its own despite 3'000 years of misunderstanding by foreigners.

Imagine the uproar here if you were all asked to pay CHF 1 per year to stay on EF, you'd spend more time arguing about the other "meaty benefits" that a buck would bring you in the real world.

As for everyone scurrying around trying to bury their true pasts, that's just pretty funny, period. Why the hell would you ever post anything truly personal on a public website? Your average Kindergarten attendee handles internet etiquette better than some of the inmates here.

Pathetic.
Sorry Assassin, we know each other in real life but I do resent you saying that my position, amongst many others here, is pathetic. My position now with EF really has very little to do with the T&C's but the way the Local tried to bring them in via the back door without announcing them. Also how they put an option on my profile that made me accept Spam from them, again, without announcing this new option.

I've said it before, they are a media company who should (clearly do) know how to communicate their new policies in a positive and customer friendly way, but they choose not to for some obscure reason.

I was happy to share my stories and experiences with English forum because at one time I trusted English Forum and the Admin (OK, so maybe that was naive of me). I certainly do not trust the Local at all and I clearly am not the only one. I don't think that's pathetic at all.

Re: How seriously are you considering departing EF permanently?

Who thinks they won't get any more spam under the new T&C?

I'm not happy with the change - I didn't sign up to share this crap with a company. But it doesn't mean it warrants a flounce or the mission of deleting 2000++ posts.

Life is too short.

Anyway - back to the rutting: Who got the girl???

DB, I thought I did know you. I'll refrain from using your name in my rep comments to you in future

On another note, to add to my fake cyber life, I often pretend to be another user to throw an added twist into it when I meet people.

Will somebody please explain to me the issue about using somebody's real name in rep comments? Am I being stupid?

One should abstain from using people's real name since it is exposing them (without their consent). Same goes for rep comments since they are not entirely private, either. Admin have access (and I guess SW might, too), in order to protect people from online bullying.

I am not sure if this what is being referred to here but, this is what happened to me. I received bad rep once from someone, in which they referred to me by my maiden name. I have no idea how they knew it, but I found it intimidating and a bit threatening.

Things like that should be reported, should you not happen to like it. I have had it a few times and it does not really bug me, but completely understand the heebeegeebees of others.

Sorry, that came out a bit clumsily, I wasn't intimating that I was naive to trust the mods... just EF and the Admin. I did edit my post before I read yours.

You can cut the rope now.
