Re: Year Zero

Hate to be the realist here but you need about 56000 member votes to get the ok to do it. its probly a good thing to do but it wont stop what you would like to, maybe concentrate on the rep idea, which actualy is worthless except for peeps to recognize good posts. maybe to get a new compliment system instead of the rep system.

Re: Year Zero

why not just scrap the whole rep, thanks/groan, status system completely?

while you're at it, why not really start from year zero and delete all post history.

Where is the "Who the f*** cares?" option??

Honestly guys - this isn't a new dawn - this is just another day - where another faceless organisation will not sell your details - but you will receive an inbox full of spam declaring your gentleman bits aren't effective enough.

I love the irony of a thread suggesting the removal of thanks and groans where each of you are thanking each other.

Re: Year Zero

I don't think that going back to "zero" is really going to change very much about this forum, at least not in the long-term. I can understand why some might want to do away with any kind of caste system that may have developed on here, but I think it would only be a matter of time before it built itself back up again. There will always be the regular posters (and general addicts like myself ) and there will always be the "newbies" and occasional drifters.

If anything, in my opinion -- what we should do is start treating the newbies with a bit more respect (and just each other in general). But I think that's been starting to happen in the past few months, already.

Anyways, one thing I like about this forum is that I have become familiar with some of the regular posters on here (e.g. who has a good sense of humor and who doesn't, etc.) and I wouldn't want to risk stripping the forum of its personality/ies. Besides, I think people shouldn't put so much stock in the number of thanks or groans they've received. We all have our good days and our bad days. And if everyone on here got along perfectly and never debated, I think it would be a rather dull place.
