Re: Year Zero

I am sure I am repeating myself, but who cares. I am not particularly bothered by the rep. system and Thanks/Groans.

There was previously a good argument put forward for keeping the Thanks button. It help to stop the abundance of "Good Post" or "Yes, I agree" posts.

Re: Year Zero

Don't mind either way - will go with the flow. Growing up in a Swiss mountain village, I was about 12 when I realised that it's best not to take too much notice with one's reputation- and just live with your conscience (and hey did I have a ball, lol).

Re: Year Zero

I love the thanks button. I'm sure I use it about 10 times more than I actually post. Which is probably against forum etiquette, now I come to think of it.
The reps are nice but could live without them. Do people actually ask for them? I've only seen it once and that seemed rather tongue-in-cheek.

Oh yes, there's quite a gaggle of rep-whorers in EF

Hate to break this to you, but if you haven't been complimented by then, it's probably not the others with issues.

Hmmm? I was a fan of the show when it was new....don't think I was trolling for folks whom I've never met to say I'm as cute as 99. Even she got old...like me. In other words, I'm not 25 anymore. Gravity and time have taken their toll.

I dont really give a toss but It'd allow people to be a bit more honest if it moved away from the binary "thanks/Groan" to something like thanks/groan/I Agree/I dont agree/Whats your fooking point you loser?/get off that fence you wet kipper/thats so good i'd cut my johnson off to have thought of it myself/yeah yeah, whatever" and so on.

Re: Year Zero

I've got a interesting idea those who reach more than say 20 posts a day are permanently banned from EF. That should sort it.

Removing most of the rep whore circle in one swoop.

Or say those that reach 10k posts are possibly retired

Interesting thought. Unfortunately, most limitations like that lead to folks building a better mousetrap. People bent on being here and accumulating points, per se, will do so with or without rules governing that.

The one thing that tends to break up established cliques are sockpuppets mostly because they get support from the old guard and few are willing to out them in times of necessary change.
