| | To My Fellow EF Members,
Dear Fellow EF Members,
I feel compelled to address you collectively as I have noted today that the list of members of high repute who have decided to self-delete continues to grow. I am certain that the number of those who have chosen this option is indeed higher than we realize as we are probably not aware of the deletions of those members who were newer or had a low post count.
I am profoundly sad to lose the expertise and knowledge of those long-time members, which has been demonstrated time after time. I propose that it is a significant loss as well to lose a new member as he or she has not had time to gain enough knowledge to share, or has not been a member long enough to do so. Lost potential, if you will. A loss either way, though, irrespective of post, thanks, or green blob count.
To those members who have deleted their accounts on EF, you will be missed. To those who are considering deletion, I would like to point out that the act of deletion, performed as a result of frustration with the current situation and the changes that are taking place, takes so much away from this forum. Since we do not know, really, how this situation will resolve, I would like to encourage each member to at least stay on until the air clears. When all is said and done, this forum IS its members. No building, no equipment, no inventory. Just people, along with their opinions, insights, advice and knowledge. Deleting takes so much away from the other members of this forum as our differences give each member so many perspectives to offer.
I do acknowledge that there are members who have deleted as a sign of solidarity with others, and I am in no way insinuating that their decision was questionable.
I am merely asking that before one chooses to delete, take a moment to consider what the forum is losing by that action rather than what is being gained. Consider whether you might remain "inactive" and not post for a period of time prior to pulling the plug, in order to make sure that you are making the right decision since it is a permanent one. Do what you need to do, peruse other forums, talk with friends, whatever. Just know that your input is valued here, by those that you have not and will probably not ever meet. Don't underestimate that.
Thanks for indulging me by reading this note. And thanks for the many ways you have helped me as I have acclimated to life in Switzerland.

I'm not leaving this pub willingly, even if I can't stand the landlord and find some of the staff a bit weird at times.
Of course, anyone can be barred...

| | Re: To My Fellow EF Members,
No worries.. people get upset, then they calm down.
They check out all the nice places in the neighbourhood and scout out where everybody is.
Visiting different locations doesn't take away the appreciation of one specific place.
It's a little like taking a long train ride.. you never know who will get off at the next stop and who will share the journey with you.
Smiles, it's becoming peaceful again, here, there and even there and even better.. in real life where people enjoy a get together with a beer (or a glass of Sauterne) and a hug.

We don't sweat it, it's all good. I think people have different ideas about belonging, loayalty and communities, who am I to point out about reciprocating what one got here, and bore folks.
Nice to see things are positively calming down, people respect each others' choices. Definitely bummed about the recent catapultage of some folks.
I do feel that if one recycle group hugs in more places, it gets a tad...recycled.
Though my old tantric teacher would have disagreed.

Like the calm after the storm or peace after war, we will all take and deep breath and continue..
Right. Anyone seen that thread about the empty Lenor bottle?

I don't see a reason why people remove themselves from here, unless they've been in Switzerland for a very short time, and have had to go back/away forever( and so have no advice to give/take).
I would never leave the EF !!! It's given me info, knowledge, awareness and above all, hours of laughter!! Some of you people are really so bloody funny!!

I have also met some very nice people and made new friends.

pffff.... it's about people, not about places
Couldn't be bothered where they are, as long as I can hug 'em.
After all in real life, I'll travel to Nyon and Geneva as I'll travel to Zurich, Basel n' Rappi, 'cause that's where y'all are.
Contribute your best, where ever you are, and forget the rest.
