Re: Double standards

What I understood from Ouchboy is the exemple of Cute things kids say is in Family matter when other stuff health related and kids related are move in Off Topic.

I had plenty of thread health and kids related who were send there. Yes it wasn't Switzerland specifically related but Cute things kids say either. It can happen everywhere and has no connection to Switzerland, same as potty training, thyroid disease, etc, etc and etc.

Re: Double standards

I think we've worked out - if a car thread (you know a thing you drive) is posted in "Transportation/Driving" it is moved to "Off-topic" if the mods can't afford it.

Is there a "poor box" we can give to??

Thanks.

Transportation / Driving forum
: Public transport issues, driver's license questions, buying cars, anything Swiss transport related.

Off Topic: Topics not directly related to Switzerland.

Discussion of new automobiles may be exciting to some, but they're OT in theme.

Oh I see - I must have not typed that bit about the price in CHF and the discount BMW are offering? I guess that is only applicable for our reader in Elbonia. I can understand the new 3-series one being in Off-Topic - as prices haven't been announced - but the M5 one did. Just because the mods can barely scrape enough together to buy a push-bike it doesn't mean the thread should be moved to OT.

Shall I send a list of threads which aren't related to Switzerland which "clutter up" the other forums???

I should know better than to argue with a mod - they'll only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I honestly thought that it was off-topic as well. (and not only because BMWs are shyte..but also because this would open a plethora of threads on consumer good reviews, which I believe the EF is not intended for.)

Do you talk to your co-workers and boss like this at work? Or your family members? Just wondering.
I am really concerned about the bullying tone taken by some of the moderators in recent posts. What is the purpose of including a personal attack? All of Ouchboy's suggestions were polite and reasonable. I think most "co-workers" and "family members" would be able to handle this kind of constructive criticism.

Quote:

Congratulations on making all those posts in this thread using real words. Not a single lolcat in sight.
Another puzzling personal attack.

I want to say that I do value the moderators who give so generously of their time to make this a good community. No one is saying that we do not love and appreciate your service. These suggestions were not impolite or disrespectful in my opinion. As such, I do not feel that such a reaction is warranted.

Clearly worth groaning d'ya think? Yup, BMW are truly a garbage brand, they hardly sell any vehicles and aren't really making records profits at a time when the whole industry is in a state of collapse. The dealers probably can't give them away free with a box of cornflakes presently....

Dodgyken, I appreciate you feel victimised that your thread isn't included in Important Thread Of The Day, but it's really not anything but OT, even if you've included a reference to the Swiss price of such a car. LiB demonstrates why this is in his post above.

And enough of the snide comments about what mods may or may not have to spend. You have no idea and it comes across as crass. Feel free to "argue" at your own level.

Thank you.

Yes, please do. We'll endeavour to put everything in it's place, although no guarantees as there's a lot to do minute by minute and seeing as none of the mods are crusty bums we have to fit all this inbetween doing our jobs. Thanks for your contribution to keeping EF a valuable resource for English speaking people in Switzerland.

May I dare Suggest you give mod powers for a day to dodgyken? If he is able to do the list he could as well move the stuff.

Sorry, Dodgyken, as much as I adore your tutu, glasses, hairy armpits and your happy, smiling face, I'm throwing a monkey wrench into this discussion and siding with the mods on this one.

Off to drive someone crazy and or I'll become the squeaky wheel that needs oil.

You must be the only poster on EF who is unaware of Ouchboy's predilection for lolcats. No-one else would have been puzzled by that remark.

Give it a rest

You insult mods insinuating that non of them can afford to buy a flash car that you can, one of them groans you, then you take offense.

Get your head out of your arse and accept a post has been moved. There are for more important things in life.

Precedence..

But cmon. Groaned by a mod? Doesn't it bring the ultimate brownie points in the ungerground section?

I wouldn't sweat it. Threads might be moved, they might also be deleted if posted in a wrong forum. How consistent the move is, depends on how sharp our member's eyes are and if they care and report, how many of us are on the rota-less watch, etc etc. I'd move that one too. It's far from personal. Saying mods have no cash to buy a lush car...well...
